    Fun/Technical Drum Songs?

So I take drum lessons, have been since about 2015. I started through Rock Band and it kinda went from there.

I've been at a shortage for songs to play at lessons lately and would like some input for some fast (but not too fast), preferably technical or tom drum-centric songs to work on in the future.

I'm currently doing Chop Suey - System of a Down, having previously done Everlong - Foo Fighters. Everlong was a little too fast for me, at about 158 BPM so that's a gauge of probably the upper limit of what I'm capable of right now.

Favourite songs I've played so far were Enter Sandman - Metallica and Spoonman - Soundgarden.

If y'all got any suggestions feel free to put em down! :P

Dream Theater songs have some of the most technical drumming I've heard and is usually not too fast. A Nightmare to Remember is a personal favorite, but is kinda renowned for being one of the hardest songs to drum out there from a technical standpoint.

Yea I was considering some Dream Theater, yet a good amount of their songs have double bass pedal and the place I go to doesn't have a spare double-bass pedal we can borrow for both my teacher and me. I don't have one either at home so that complicates things even further. We could potentially modify the chart to accommodate for that, though.

As for all-a-y'all that suggested Venetian Snares, the Szerencsetlen in particular seems fun, 'scept I'd have to play it WAY slowed down. Really good for learning techniques and stuff though I'd imagine.

Scatterbrain's another one of those things I'd have to play way slowed down first, but definitely a good technique-refining song for the future.

I'm super jealous, I've kinda lowkey always wanted to get lessons. stick with it!

if I had a drum kit to mess with, a go-to for me would be old Grohl jams. sometimes quick but never insanely technical. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDsMLM-pkTY

If you really want to hate yourself and want to throw your kit in the lake, pick up some Tool repertoire.

Or Larnell Lewis who often plays with Snarky Puppy

Tool from what I've heard is fun as all hell, Snarky Puppy I've heard of but not gone too far in but yea, I'm pretty sure I'd need double bass for some Tool songs but if I can find one with both sheet music done and can be done with one bass pedal yea I'mma do me some Tool. :P

Y'all overkilling with Dream Theater, Scatterbrain and breakcore, this is far beyond what OP is asking for (although if you can get there someday, that would be impressive).

Based on the examples you gave, I think you can safely stay within 1990s and 2000s mainstream rock (think alternative rock, indie rock or power pop). Here's a few suggestions :

Arctic Monkeys - Mardy Bum. Most Arctic Monkeys songs could be too fast for you, but this one is manageable and honestly fun to play on all instruments. If you want more from them, look for A Certain Romance.

Band of Horses - Ode to LRC.

The Black Keys - Strange Times. Simple floor tom beat that sounds good. Also try Tighten Up.

Corrosion of Conformity - Albatross. Good practice for hand/legs coordination.

                            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOq7acPdfnQ
                            Grandaddy - Now It's On

                            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVQG3yNferM
Okkervil River - Blanket and Crib

                            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2mybZ3KT2E
Queens of the Stone Age - In the Fade. Great song, but even I have some troubles making the verses sound good, so I usually dumb it down to half the hi-hats hits.

                            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXhmwMdUKfA
Stone Temple Pilots - Plus. Interstate Love Song is another good one you can try.

                            - shit, didn't see you wanted tom drum-centric songs. But I would still recommend the songs above because they're fun and easy to play.

And, getting a double bass pedal isn't a bad idea for developping your other bad foot, but in the meantime, you can develop more complex hi-hat patterns or keep time with your other foot.

I'd say Ginger Baker from Cream has a thing for toms, and their whole sound and tempo should fit your criterias. Even though I agree with Noname here, it's not a bad idea to pick a complex song as an objective. Breaking down some Dream Theater or say Rush section per section and slowing their tempo down really is the best way to teach yourself outside of lessons.
