Pretty sure this is the keyboard I got like a year ago and it works just fine, plus is very cheap.

however, i don't play crazy hard new files, so i don't know how it'd stand up to that kind of play

I bought a Das Keyboard a few years back and it's still going strong. I pound the crap out of that thing sometimes so I'm surprised it's still holding up.

It's definitely a money sink, that's for sure, but the difference between using that and just a standard Microsoft cheapo keyboard is like night and day. I got insanely faster once I got used to it.

Only get mechanical, tbh

If I were to get one, I'd make sure the switches are pcb mounted rather than soldered, then you could theoretically just swap them, you could have a set of 4 keys in every switch color, and repair it if it breaks.

I have the Corsair K95 RGB, and so far its been doing me pretty good.

i know mina has said the cm storm quickfire rapid with brown switches was pretty good at lasted him for about 3 years before any key setup died iirc, and its a pretty decent price for a mech

You're gettin' what you pay for though. I got a corsair for a hundred at a store, and I kinda wanna buy a second one prematurely because I love it. I have This one and I haven't had any double tap issues. I'm still not adjusted from having a blue switched keyboard, but it's close enough and I'm pretty sure it's withstood a beating already.

I have a Corsair Strafe with cherry mx reds. It's super fast and responsive, got it for $90 at bestbuy about 2 months ago. I highly recommend this kb for speed/double taps. Only bad thing about it is it's easy to get boo's since the activation force is so light, but at the same time it has saved my ass when i thought i didn't press hard enough. really though i aa'd electric butterfly (and aaa'd jhm mind you) on a membrane that cost 50 bucks, rated for 20mil keytaps (i've gotten like 40/50mil, 4k setup going strong for over 2 years with constant abuse) you don't need an expensive-ass cherry mx bullshit

I think you are just really good man so it doesn't matter as much for you but $60 for a membrane compared to $90 for a mech, might as well spend the extra 30. It's like tiger woods could kick ass with garage sale golf clubs but he wouldn't play to his full potential.

yeah you dont "need" a mech to get decent scores but if youre willing to spend a little extram money a mech will definitely help you

Pretty much this. If you want to optimize your play as much as possible, invest in a mech. You'll still be in pretty solid shape if you find the right type of membrane keyboard though. I know Shadow used to be a monster on the k120, and that KB goes for $15 or something lol. I also used it for index back then and came close to AA'ing Disregard or something.
