Re: Gamewhore
The last Gamewhore Competition was hosted in November 2012.
GWC 2009 was fought with Exciting Hyper Highspeed Star. GWC 2012 was fought with VS Boss Battle.
However, currently the most efficient way of accumulating grandtotal without unlocking Vertex Beta vROFL is still VS Boss Battle. I predict the next GWC to occur after some new mechanics are introduced to the game that will heavily influence the outcome of the competition, such as enabling grand total score recording on modifiers such as visual mods and rates. -
Re: Gamewhore
I'm pretty sure by the time that FlashFlashRevolution allows score recordings on songs with rates & mods is the day that grand total scoring & ranked scoring will no longer mean anything. People will just play really hard songs (like RATO) on 6x rate and just quad hold the songs for their scores.
Only way I see another GWC competition happening is when a new song is introduced to the game that becomes controversial for score farming.Last edited by gold stinger; 11-18-2014, 02:29 PM.Comment

Re: Gamewhore
Wasn't there one where people made new accs and had to get to the lowest avrank? Seems like this would be the best format for another GWC, because otherwise yeah, it would just boil down to "who can play VBB for the longest time"The renegade has betrayed me.Comment

Re: Gamewhore
Quadholding doesn't work in R^3 and it's the only engine supporting rates. So, there's no problem here.I'm pretty sure by the time that FlashFlashRevolution allows score recordings on songs with rates & mods is the day that grand total scoring & ranked scoring will no longer mean anything. Re: Gamewhore
Good to hear some discussion and thank you PrawnSkunk for the info about past GWC. I really want to whore myself on FFR, but with School, a possible summer camp job again, and Parents saying "you are too young to not get sleep and you have school..." hooplah, I don't know when I will be able to atleast try for 1bil points in 24 hours, server time

Re: Gamewhore
Making new accs and getting lowest avrank is mostly "who can tolerate playing difficulty-12 rock songs and Synth files for the longest time"
Only marginally more compelling, really.Comment

Re: Gamewhore
XD so true. I wonder if we could try a competition where we all make new accounts and try for the most unique AAAs in one day? Like getting coactive but more competitive.

Re: Gamewhore
This actually isn't that bad of an idea, although it becomes "AAA songs from shortest to longest" at that point haha.
Alternatively for the GWC points-fest, you could simply enact a rule that gameplays past a certain number on a single song would not count toward grand total. So if you play VsBB 200 times, the rest of the competition you have to play other songs. But it's more work for those running the competition then, so..

Re: Gamewhore
Also basically becomes just sorting all the songs in the game by NPS in the beginning of the file and then going down the list playing them 200 times each.
Need something where the optimal strategy is to play many different songs very few times.
I'd propose something like getting the lowest average rank in one day given you can only play each song once. No restarts allowed. (we'd need Velo to make restarts actually count as gameplays for this to work of course)Last edited by hi19hi19; 11-18-2014, 09:43 PM.Comment

Re: Gamewhore
I disagree with the rock songs idea. It's more about playing and ranking well on the oldest songs because they have the most plays. I remember having a pretty low PA score on CIA Rave and still having like 6000 rank on it. So while easy songs are, naturally, the easiest to AAA, the oldest songs will save you the most ranks per song.

When the game isn't fun for you anymore, take a break. It's not a job, nobody here is professional and getting paid to play and force themselves to constantly improve... it's a game.

Re: Gamewhore
I'd love to see a team gamewhore competition. Groups of three working together to get lowest avrank in one day, that'd be pretty hype.

Play a sequence of files one at a time, one attempt only.
