Ender's Game

I finally finished reading the last (7th) book in the series beginning with Ender's Game and I wanted to hear amongst those who have read any of the series what they thought of the book. I also want to know your opinion on whether or not this book series (or even just the first one) should be made into a movie.

By the way, if you liked the first book then you'd probably love the 5th book. 1-4 (Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide, and Children of the Mind) are all about Ender in particular. 5-7 (Ender's Shadow, Shadow of the Hegemon, Shadow Puppets) are all about Bean. Bean is ownage over Ender, I swear.

This series owns all. I've read them all once and am re-reading them again. I love Bean so much more than Ender though. And what's this Shadow Puppets? I thought Shadow of the Hegemon was the last one for Bean. If there really is another one I'm going out to buy Shadow Puppets ASAP.

I also thought it ended with Shadow of the Hegemon, but my friend whom just started reading the series bought all 7 all at once. I instinctly stole the 7th book and finished it about 2 hours ago.

The problem was probably that the version of the text we had wasn't new so the existance of the final book wasn't final. Shadow Puppets is a true ending to a series such as this. So many geniuses doing so many things at once.

Argh...I read Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow and absolutely loved them, but the rest of the series...nnnerghh...I read Speaker for the Dead and Xenocide and decided they were way too theological and whatnot, couldn't really get into them.

Enders Game and Shadow is light reading. Speaker of the Dead to Children of the mind is philisophical reading. Shadow of the Hegemon to Shadow Puppets (assuming) is high-level (strategic) reading.

Extremely good assumption. The government policies and stategic military combat is more than double Shadow of the Hegemon.

I still think the one's most qualified for a movie are Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow. Or both put together somehow. The other books would be very boring to watch on film due to the large majority of talking and the small minority of action. The Bean series, however, is all awesome. Like I said, Bean is the best.

I only read Ender's Game, but holy crap, did Ender's Game rock hard. One of the awesomest Sci-Fi's ever. I definitely loved Bean and Peter. Peter put an awesome new view on evil villains for me. I'll have to check out the others.

Yeah, probably Ender's Game is the best for a movie- zero-gravity battles would rock. I read the Ender 4, and thought those were REALLY good- probably the best science fiction I've ever read (although probably not movie fodder).

You mean the other ones (Bean series) are actually good? OMG I gotta try them this summer 'cause I thought they were just little subplots off of Ender's Game- didn't bother reading them. Off to the library!

Oh and btw did anybody ever read his other series, the Alvin Maker series?

You see, the problem is, though it sems like great Movie material, I guarantee you, the movie would suck BALLS and do the book injustice. Not if Peter Jackson did it, would it be good.

hmm I love the series. I have all of the books.

I'm really excited for the movie. I know I shouldn't be parceque I will just set myself up for disappointment like with the first harry potter movie. haha

I read Ender's Game and I didn't like it very much.. in my opinion it dragged on and it was too predictable. :/

I've read all of them except Shadow Puppets and they do "rock hard". When I first tried reading the Speaker for the Dead series they didn't grab my interest, but I read them again a year ago and they kicked ass. Peter is the best by the way (The Peter in Shadow of the Hegemon not little Peter).

Only read the first book, but it was enough for me to declare Orson Scott Card within the top 5 writers ever.
