That sucks. You shouldn't be grounded for getting a virus, I thought that was your antivirus software's fault o_O

my dad was yelling earlier because the computer was so messed up. he was like "YOU GUYS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO GO NEAR THE COMPUTER DOWNSTAIRS!" yeah, about 10 minutes ago i went down there, cleaned it up, and fixed the derned thing. haha, screw u, pops
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O

Wait... so a virus got on her computer, and her parents are blaming her, and now she's grounded?

        That sucks.

i dont think many parents realize how easy it is to get a virus sometimes. i mean, u could do nothing at all and have a few spyware things on your computer. click the wrong link and BAM! virus-ed.

on a side note, viruses suck

Viruses are exceptionally easy to avoid. It takes an unintelligent person to get one, in my opinion.

I think all you really need is some good antivirus software... We use Norton personally, and use ZoneAlarm as an advertisement destroyer that may carry viruses, and SpyBot for spyware, just in case...

But sorry about that loss HVLM, its too bad. I don't know why she should be grounded for a virus though... must be a bad one...

My stepfather believed that I was the cause for every problem with the family computer. So, I reinstalled Windows, made sure to not create a personal account, and user profiles up for the rest of my family. Within two days he came back and asked me to "fix the computer".

The entire time, my computer was functioning perfectly, even under Windows, without any antivirus software, anti-spyware software, or anything other than the default firewall included with non-SP2 Windows XP. FreeBSD just rules hard and doesn't need that crap.

the best way to keep yuor computer neet is to not be dum omg.

I have no anti-virus software either.

It is all the people who are like "FREE BIKE COOL *CLICK*" that get them.

well, i said viruses are easy to get based on the fact that the large majority of people are complete morons

also, an even larger majority of people are technologically illiterate morons, which makes the problem even worse

if u are one of the few people who arent morons and can actually do basic tasks on the computer without much effort, then yes, viruses are extremely easy to avoid.

Well I'm at my friends house now but yeah ;_; I won't be nearly as active as usual once I get back to my place (i'm in calgary right now, I'll be going back to Regina tomorrow) 2 months of being grounded, hopefully my parents (well...actually it's just my dad who's all pissed off) will basically forget about the whole thing. OMFG, 5 days without msn and I already feel like i'm dying, and plus, my ffr rank will go down big time, probably all the way to 3000, oh well. not that i care THAT much. meh.

                        I don't understand why people use Norton. It's a horrible anti-virus. Use AVG Anti-virus ( www.grisoft.com ) for all your virus-killing needs! </shameless plug>

And like Xaimus said, using anything but Windows (and possibly Mac) basically guarantees that you don't get viruses.

A guy I know frequently downloads software off Kazaa, then complains about the performance of his computer. You think he would have learned by now, but...no.

Then again, he is in the "special class". What's your excuse?

                            1) people use norton because it dominates the market. many people just get what's most popular or what they see first. thats partly why windows is used so much: the hype
                            2) why is it so terrible? idunno all about things, so idunno
                            3) why would not using windows keep u virus free? is it because viruses are designed to exploit a flaw in windows when things are structured differently elsewhere? or are other OSs just better?

                            4) Kazaa sucks. BitTorrent is better
                            5) alot of people use Kazaa and get their comps messed up. then, when asked how it got like that they swear they had nothing to do with it. i hate stupid people...

It doesn't take a fool to run a few Anti-virus/Spyware/Adware to get rid of it.
