    I need advice, ffr

I am from the Iowa area and I need to make it to O'Hare airport for my 10PM flight back to Boston. There is a huge storm that's about to hit soon, and as a result, my bus ticket with Megabus departing at 10AM was promptly cancelled earlier today.

This storm will be heavy starting at 11PM going in through the morning, I was provided the option of taking the 2:40PM Megabus and arriving to Chicago at 7PM. I can take the metro to the airport, leaving me to arrive around 8PM, assuming all goes well.

What should I do? Should I take the risk? Do you think bus services like Megabus are reliable even if they offer transportation after a snow storm strikes? I'm 21, my family will be pissed if I miss my flight. What can I do?

Well if the bus was late and you didn't make it in time what kind of a situation would you be in? Do you have Travel Insurance to help cover re-booking the next flight out? Would you be able to afford a night or two at a hotel/motel in the area while you wait for the next one?

I am misunderstanding or is your other option to wait and try to get a different flight? Or were you looking at alternate means of transportation?

I didn't get any sort of travel insurance, unfortunately, imaging the worst scenario possible would be the bus is very late and I end up missing my flight. I am very reluctant about rescheduling my megabus ticket for 2:40PM.

Rescheduling my flight is not an option since my family wants to leave for Philadelphia for Christmas time from Boston early morning on the 24. It's so close to Christmas this storm happening now is absurd.

I wanted to know other means of transportation to make the airport. I go to University of Iowa, and I've already been asking around for rides on several facebook groups. Im awaiting a response, it seems unlikely since finals week has ended this past Friday. Could I rent a car and drive to the airport at my age?

yep been afk for quite some time. good to see the website itself hasn't changed much since '09 or whatever.

this situation i'm in sucks so much, honestly never wanted to go home for the holidays. should have booked a flight from a more local airport and dished out an extra 1 or 2 hundred.

I'm willing to spend money for renting a car, but not sure if I can do that due to my age.

Yea might be safest to leave the bus as a last resort if possible. Reviews are mixed at best and they have no compensation policy. And with snowy roads you never know. Another prospect is reddit if you're familiar with it. There might be someone on the /r/iowa or /r/iastate subreddits willing to help. (Or another location appropriate one).

Anyways I'm sorry I can't be of more help. I've only travelled in the states twice and neither time had to deal with weather.

Phone a rental company though. It depends on them for age, some are 21+, some are older.

Thanks for all your help and advice, I'm going to do that now.

EDIT: The snow storm has already began, I'm deciding on getting a lift to the local airport tomorrow once it stopped. rent a car then from there then to go to O'Hare.
I'll keep you guys updated on whether or not I get ****ed hard.
