    Officially Certified

Took the first Cisco exam today, and passed! ICND1, I am now officially certified through Cisco.

Studying for CCNA now, will be taking the exam for that next week.

    $150 well spent.

              Re: Officially Certified

The CCENT is a certification stating that you are professionally capable to handle installation, configuration, implementation and troubleshooting of networks. It is an accredited entry-level certification typically earned by IT students and or other professionals looking to get their foot in the door for jobs involving networking administration for businesses or corporations.

Someone might be able to give a better explanation for it.

I plan on shooting for the CCNA when I'm nearly finished with my IT degree -- I look forward to hearing about your experience with the examination!

Basically for the past 15 or so weeks Choofers has been in a fast-paced IT program studying networking devices (routing and such) and he passed a certification exam today.

Halogen gave a more in-depth description above

ICND1 is the first of a two-part test (ICND2 being the latter) which is one of the first level certifications that you can get for Cisco networks and peripheral devices. The Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is the 1-test equivalent to the two tests, but he still gets the same title afterward. There's a vareity of different levels (e.g. CCNP,CCVP, CCDP, CCIE, CCNA/CCNP Voice, etc.) He's gonna be a netaddy like me p much SO PROUD :')

So you are back in school? Take certification exams while you're innit bro, trust me it's not much more work than an extra hour every other day.

I use ucertify.com; expensive, but it works if you suck at managing a self-study program on your own.

Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) validates the ability to install, operate and troubleshoot a small enterprise branch network, including basic network security. With a CCENT, a network professional demonstrates the skills required for entry-level network support positions - the starting point for many successful careers in networking. The curriculum covers networking fundamentals, WAN technologies, basic security and wireless concepts, routing and switching fundamentals, and configuring simple networks. CCENT is the first step toward achieving CCNA, which covers medium-size enterprise branch networks with more complex connections.
tl;dr I've been training for the past 15 weeks for Sysadmin/Network Admin positions and this is the first step in validating everything I've learned.
