I just chose "Candies, more Candies!" for the first time at the Sorceress' Hut and I feel completely ripped off.

You need an enchanted sword in order to receive an upgrade.

Enchanted swords have levels. The sorceress' enchantments increase those levels.

What needs to happen in order for the Castle's Entrance to be beatable for me?
I seriously just went through 50 heal potions and didn't get anywhere with it.

try eating candies to raise HP, fm54
Maybe summon an imp if you're about to face the * cuz it teleports you back the the start.

Well it's not really tough to beat him, the key is one of the letter keys.
