everyone complained about it not sending out the email, iirc
edit the problem is the spam bots are posting in threads that they shouldn't be, so maybe for a while make it so you have to post in the newbie introductions thread in order to be able to post a second post?
As far as I know, email verification has recently been activated to mitigate the problem. According to Velo, the bots that are still coming are from accounts made before email verification was activated. There are still a lot of bots being created though: their statuses show "User Awaiting Email Activation". Believe me, there were a ton of bots before, and there are a ton of them being created still.
Email verification isn't really foolproof, and it's just not convenient for people with multiple accounts, so here's another idea.
To register an account, you gotta call some staff member, and answer a series of various philosophical questions. Then you gotta provide a picture of yourself with "I want to be a part of ffr" written on your body with a mixture of your own blood and some toast crumbles making the letters. Then you can make it to the account activation queue, and wait until synthlight comes to your house and iron the acceptation judgement on your bare skin.
Whatever method used to stop the bot generation, The total count of FFR users will probably be cut by a third or fourth. Also, what about the users that don't get on FFR as often as the active user? Say verification is missed(assuming there would be a time limit before termination), and their account is deleted, just to come back randomly to find out they no longer have an account? Will there be a procedure to recover it if they want their account back?
