Because nobody cares. Geico is just some corporation that has been blasting everyone with stupid ads for years. Even if this one is a bit more annoying than the previous ones, it's not a big deal. With PETA, it's an activist group (albeit a batshit insane one), so there will always be people who thought PETA was a respectable anti-cruelty organization until they saw the latest ridiculous act or advertisement they put out. And that's why it's surprising.

Support animal rights groups which actually care more about the animals than about making a big controversial scene. But don't support PETA.

I think you may have your heart in the right place but you really should consider carefully if you want to align yourself with PETA. Consider that they are controversial even among vegetarians and vegans. Please think about why that is.
For the THIRD TIME: I DON'T SUBSCRIBE TO PETA. I don't need to be told who to support or align myself with, and I know my heart is in the right place. I can and do do my own research. I'm not even going to nor have I touched your No-Kill vs. Euthanization argument, do you know why? Because I have no disagreement there. WHAT THIS THREAD IS ABOUT IS PETA'S POKEMON ANIMATION GAME, not their animal shelter practices. I already told you I don't support PETA, but when they DO come public with something that's not just some shock value antic, all of you act like it's just another shock value antic. It's stupid and biased and not right.

So when a corporation makes something annoying we're supposed to lie down and take it, when any activists make something annoying we're supposed to roll our eyes and groan and shun them? That sounds back ****ing asswards to me man.

Supposed to? We're not supposed to do anything. I'm just talking about what you can expect people's actual reactions to be. If a corporation does something stupid most people are just gonna get on with their lives and be slightly less likely to buy their products. The thing with activists is that a lot of people kinda agree with their point, and it feels wrong to have someone you kinda agree with doing something so retarded.

This is the crux of my argument: What makes their little flash animation "so retarded" to you?

Retarded (adj.) 1. slightly informative, persuasive, and definitely geared towards kids?

            Re: Nice try, Peta.

People view it as retarded because people think PETA is trying to shut down video game animal cruelty or something, which, when thinking about pokemon, most people wouldn't consider that wrong if it happened IRL. Not only do they view it as going against video games, they also disgaree with the message about owning pets.
Basically, they don't like the message.
