FFR Radio - Broadcast Instructions

Important Rules

• No foul language on air. FFR is still family friendly.
• No donations may be requested when using FFR to broadcast.
• If you are advertising over the air, always refer to your stream as an FFR stream.
• Never play an exceedingly long, or looping playlist. Others would like to stream as well.

Required Software & Setup

Download the following:

Winamp Lite
Oddcast

Installation:

- Install Winamp first, be careful when installing so that Winamp does not take over your default file types. This can be irritating to reverse properly.
- Install Oddcast second, select lame within the installation, and follow the download instructions when notified. If you missed it: Lame Download.
- Place the "lame_enc.dll" file within the root directory of Winamp. (Likely C:\Program Files (x86)\Winamp) None of the other files within the download are relevant, and can be deleted.
- Open Winamp and go to Options --> Preferences --> Plugins --> DSP/EFFECTS. Double click on Oddcast.

Note: If you cannot figure this procedure out on your own, you do not deserve to be streaming music over the FFR radio. Do not ask for help!

Bitrate: 128 - 245
Quality: 0
Samplerate: 44100
Channels: 2 (Joint Stereo)
Encoder Type: MP3 Lame
Server Type: Icecast2
Server IP: 198.27.87.176
Server Port: 8080
Encoder Password: userstream
Mountpoint: /user# (0 or 1 currently)
Reconnect Seconds: 10

FAQ

Why did another persons music start playing when I was in the middle of streaming?
- The main streaming channel takes precedence over user channels, and user channels take precedence in numerical order. Some users are official FFR DJs and have access to the main broadcast channel. They are expected to be mature, and will not overrule you unless they have reserved a time slot on the radio. (When this occurs, please stop your stream to help FFRs bandwidth!)

Can I be an Official FFR DJ?
- No, probably not. You will either get referred, or we will ask you.

I'm an Official FFR DJ, can I please reserve a timeslot?
- Not yet, I'm going to work out a management system for it first.

Some of my songs aren't playing properly, or fast forwarding! What the heck?
- Winamp hasn't been updated in a long time, and doesn't support the new FLAC format properly. (This is the mostly likely cause of the error!)
- You can download the new libFlac here. Select Download libFLAC 1.3.0.

Do you have any plans of making this so that people can select streams to listen to if more than one person wants to broadcast?

also, does it cycle people streaming, or how is that determined? first come first serve?

I know that Velocity is working on multi-stream support.

I am not sure why, but whenever I attempt to put in the stream information, the second I press ok it immediately erases all of it and doesn't connect.

It will not allow me to actually save or connect to any information I place in the settings. Even if I check for the information 1 second after I press ok, it is all removed and becomes default again. Any reason why this happens?

I'm having the same issue, foxfire. I talked to Zag and he didn't really have any answer for me on how to fix it, aside from look around on Google to see if anyone else has answered that question with a solution to the problem.

1) Run Winamp as administrator.
2) Follow the instructions on how to set up the broadcast information.
3) Hit ok.
4) Close winamp and restart winamp either as administrator or regular user.
5) Check to see if your settings have saved (they should be).
6) Broadcast music if the stream is empty!

DO THIS!! It actually let me CONNECT and everything!


When I attempt to stream something, it immediately disconnects me, but I'm going to assume that's because someone is already broadcasting over FFR Radio right now. I'll test it at like 4am when no one is on Prochat to make sure everything is in order.

If it says connected, it's fully working mate. I'm pretty sure herogashix is playing kpop at 4am though. Stream is never open.
