    Re: Homeless in Austin Texas

    Seek out homeless shelters
    look for odd-jobs
turn this situation with a pursuit of happyness twist!

of course you could always panhandle on the bus/subway to fund your drug habit but that isn't a good officiated christian idea

6hrs? I was homeless at 14 for 9 months and spent 80% of that time sleeping outdoors, builds character. You're gonna need to make the most of every remaining resource you have, and ffs if you have to sleep outdoors, make it somewhere dry/sheltered or you could be in for some rough nights.

Learn about LifeWorks' programs in housing, mental health, and education for youth homelessness in Austin. Make a difference today.

Based on the belief that all people deserve the dignity of a safe place to call home, Front Steps’ mission is to create a pathway home through shelter, affordable housing, and community education.

Foundation for the Homeless mobilizes community resources to prevent, end, and reduce the suffering of homelessness of families with children.

A few Austin-based resources I found for you with a quick google.

          also. http://www.thn.org/

Edit: wasn't implying any sort of pissing contest, just suggesting that after going through it myself I know what you are in for and what you should be focussing on. 6hrs in seems like you still have some time to get some sort of short-term assistance to get you through the weekend.

          Good luck mate~

Isn't stealing all of your things illegal enough to call the cops?

well i'll be living in texas in about 6 months, in that kind of situation i'd probably just try calling everyone i knew seeing if someone was willing to help out. i can't imagine how bad that would actually be though. sorry bro :/

                            Re: Homeless in Austin Texas

Probably too late posting this for you to read, but when I was kicked out of a rental, I went to a free legal aid office that was downtown because I was kicked out for no reason. They actually didn't help me at all ("It's not worth the trouble, just find another place to live. You're a student, it's only a sublet" etc), but there has to be someplace like that. Sounds like someone owes you 1200$ even though you're charged with assault.
-Find a homeless shelter; there should be someone there who can help you with details.
-find someone who will take you outside of Austin and bum money for a bus ticket
                            -go to police
-find a job, all urban centers I know of have a building somewhere with job postings and free phone and internet for job searching
                            -try a public library
-try your friends in austin again...

How to start an argument online:
                                Step 1) Express an opinion
                                Step 2) Wait....
