Basically, Digimon hunt other Digimon, load (absorb) their data to grow, and move on to the next Digivolution step once they grow beyond a certain level.
But the Digimon that have a Partnership with humans can be forced to grow through the power of each human partner. These partners are called Tamers, and a Digimon that has a Tamer is called a Partner Digimon.
Digimon Masters skips the DigiEgg -> Infancy -> In-training part, and players start with Digimon in their Rookie. Some of the in-game characters can go beyond Mega to Burst Mode."
Basically, you start out with one of three digimon. Agumon, Gaomon, and Lalamon. You go through leveling them up until they get to their highest form. Along the way they start to learn new moves for them to use when you're battling other Digimon. Whenever you kill a digimon they drop items and sometimes they drop eggs which I believe you can use to hatch that digimon and train it?
You can get other "mercenary" digimon along the way like Angemon, but I'm nowhere near that far so I don't know. Apparently you can use your digimon as mounts as well because mother****ers in the training town are riding around on Geogreymon and I'm like what the **** I wanna do that. I'm only level 7 or 8(hehu) so I can't really tell you all about it. It's a Korean MMO so it'll eventually turn into a grindfest though so.
EDIT: Iirc, I read that after closed beta, the tamers and digimon are both going to get reset. So, if you wanna wait it out, go for it.
EDIT: Oh yeah, it says "closed beta" but you can just sign up and download it. I believe there is only one server atm, so I'll just list people's usernames.
