    Game controllers: recommendations

Hello everyone, I'm looking for a PC game controller. So far the only good one I've found is this one by Saitek:LINK.
If anyone knows a better controller please link it here. Note that I am not looking for any of those game pads with the whole wasd set up on one hand. I mostly use controllers for racing games and emulators.

    Thanks!

No thanks, can't stand the clunky-ness of the xbox controllers.

lol, you must have been gone the last 5 years. Microsoft made a new gaming system.

Not any bigger then the one in your link. Except it is 100% compatible right when you plug it in with a windows pc.

dpad on 360 controller is garbage and is therefore garbage for emulation

Get Microsoft to do a 360 controller on a wide release with a good dpad and all other controllers can be obsoleted. Until then, my favorite is gonna be the dualshock, which incidentally can be used on a PC using a special USB adapter.

I think there are also options for connecting SNES and NES pads through USB, but you might have a lot more trouble turning those up if that floats your boat.

Similarly, you can get a USB converter for a PS2 controller if you don't like XBOX controllers. EDIT: Yeah, what Afrobean said, haha.

As far as actual PC gamepads go, sorry, I wouldn't know; last one I used was a Gravis, and that was over 10 years ago.

                It is imprecise garbage.

When I work a dpad, I want to be able to press "left" when I press left on the pad. When I press "up" I want it to handle the simple digital process of "up".

I don't want to press a direction and have the controller think I was also pressing an adjacent direction. I want precise, digital function.

Sounds like a personal problem. I dont know why you are so hateful towards a controller.

I use my ps3 controller. Works perfectly well.

You shouldn't talk down to people you don't know anything about, acting like you know more and then try to show them up in the forum. That's how you get absolutely no where.

                        This is possible?

I looked into the idea a while back because the concept of a wireless dualshock-like controller turned me on, but I couldn't find any substantive information on getting it done. If you can point me in the direction to get it done, I'd definitely go out and buy a PS3 controller right away despite not even owning a PS3.

(off-topic)I have to agree with Afro, the d-pad on the 360 is an imprecise piece of ****. I hate playing Call of Duty and trying to call in an airstrike only to turn on my night vision and die because of it.

(on-topic)If you aren't going to use the d-pad, get the 360 controller. It's made by microsoft, will be easy to hook up, etc. Otherwise, I'm not too sure what to tell you. I never needed anything besides keyboard and mouse to play a PC game.
Funny stuff goes in this area right?
