I personally thought Generals rocked when it came out, and having just played its expansion pack, Zero Hour, I think I can safely say that this game OWNS.

Plenty of cool units, structures, abilities, freakin awesome soundtrack, and very well balanced gameplay.

In Zero Hour, every side has three generals that specialize in different tactics, abilities, strengths and weaknesses. They are:

USA Air Force
USA Super Weapon
USA Laser (My favorite USA General)

China Infantry (My favorite China General)
China Tank
China Nuke

GLA Toxin (w00t for Dr.Thrax!)
GLA Demolition (My favorite GLA General)
GLA Stealth

I got Generals In February when it came out. I then got Zero Hour this year. It is awesome. Just extreme combat. And extremely addictive. USA laser General is awesome (except for when you lose power)

All Red Alert games kick ass no doubt, I never played Generals but I've seen movies of it its amazing. I have RA2

my fave is china, b/cs i could ownzer u with china. well, not right now, b/cs i havent played in a while. i used to have an older comp that (technically) didnt meet the min. requirements, but it still played, but REALLY REALLY slow. with my new comp, it goes faster than i'm used to and i cant manage things as well. but yeah, Zero Hour makes it tons better. btw, my favorite generals:

USA: Air Force
China: Infantry (unless they play as Thrax, then i'd go with tank)
GLA: no effing clue. i am terrible with GLA b/cs they are so much different, and i just cant do any of it right. although, i know Thrax is my least fav. camo is probably best, because 100+ camo cycles = AWESOME!

RA2 has everything Generals needs to be the best C&C game evar. The problem is, Generals, while an awesome game, doesnt have the traditional things all the other ones have. Example:
No Ultra-Cool Installer Like RA2
No Ultra-Cool Movies Between Missions With Live Actors Like RA2
No Ultra-Nostalgic Techno Background Music Like RA2

Still, it is C&C at it's core, and it's still pretty fun. It does manage to keep that sense of awesomeness with the one-liners your units say.

I got it sometime last year and played alot, but I haven't played recently. I think my best General (I have the expansion, also) is Dr. Thrax. I can tear he computer up with him
