I was actually pretty surprised that there wasn't a thread on this.
Anyway, I have been a pretty avid Resident Evil player, and was hearing some really good reviews from friends of mine about Left 4 Dead. Anyway, I tried it yesterday, with three other friends, to form the full team of four that is needed to enjoy the survival experience. Playing on advanced difficulty, I was feeling pretty confident that I was going to be able to survive nicely in the surroundings.
Well--I'm venturing with the rest of the team...and it's just silent. All you hear is the footsteps of the people behind you. When all of a sudden, a hoard of 50+ zombies just come out and start pushing us back. With the amazing graphics, fast gameplay, tense moments, and newly thought enemies (in comparison to Resident Evil), I was brought back to my world--no confidence, just will. The will to keep playing and fighting on because I'd be on the floor waiting to be brought up by a partner of mine.
I kid you not, if you are a Resident Evil fan, who has been looking for a good co-op with your friends, and want a challenge, this is the game for you--and I encourage you to get this game. It is well worth it (in my opinion), and will leave you playing for hours on end. If you really want to get the frantic feel that I did, start on Advanced/Expert difficulty, and you will see, that taking on zombie hordes of 40-60 running zombies is something totally different than waiting for 8-10 zombies in Resident Evil's slower gameplay.
This game pretty much outdid Resident Evil's 4 player action in Outbreak, in every way that I can think of.
Anyone who has played the game, post your thoughts for others to see!
