    Re: Computer Spec Question

I got around to my friend's house yesterday and went to the link that was posted in the thread. His comps specs are lower than mine, but upon doing the test, according to that (which I'm trusting, conisdering its run by Nvidia) he was able to run just inbetween minimum and recomended specs for Crysis. *shrug* I'll probably get it, and if I cant run it, oh well. I'm sure I can find a good home for it.

Their performance can be hard to compare directly, for a couple reasons, so you can't simply say 2x 2.16 = 4.32. The Hz might be equivalent but the performance isn't.
Basically this is all true, also only games programmed to take advantage of multi cores will operate any faster.

Most games are still aimed at a single core audience and you get almost no benefit from running multi cores (outside of being able to do more things at once.) Most of the people running dual/quad cores are doing things like Folding or some form of graphics processing.

good luck on playing max graphics....its impossible as of now, for a decent frame rate anways. an intel core 2 duo 3.2GHz (OC'ed) with 4GB ram and 2 ATI Radeon HD 3870s (they are even better then Nvidia's 8800 crap, or even the new 9800s) can only get about 30fps on max graphics with uhh not quite sure the resolution but it was bigger then my computer resolution (1680x1050). For a crysis computer you most def want an intel core 2 duo better then any AMD processor. trust me, i have a AMD Athlon 64 x2 6400+ Black Edition and a low end intel core 2 duo is about 10% faster then it....remember LOW END core 2 duo. 2-4gb of DDR2 800 or 1066 RAM will do. and of course 2 ATI Radeon HD 3870's.

my computer specs, AMD Athlon 64 x2 6400+ Black Edition (3.2GHz), 2x1 GB DDR2 800 RAM, ATI Radeon HD 3870, 500GB SATA 3GB/S and a 650W Corsair Power Supply to power it all up. I built it myself for about meh 800 bucks

*edit* if you have an extra 1,000+ bucks on you, you can always get the intel core 2 extreme which is a quad core processor. Crysis supports 3 cores and the core 2 extreme can be overclocked to 4Ghz (highest i ever seen) which means 12GHz while playing crysis....

          i have:
          E8400 @3.00GHZ OC'able to 3.6GHZ on stock cooler
          3.0GB 800mhz ram
          500GB HD
          8800GT 512MB

i think people are ... when they say but its a 3.0GHZ quad so it runs at 12GHZ total. that is hardly the case.
