    Gamecube controller to USB

Is there any way to connect the exposed wires of a GC controller and a USB wire to a Mac without purchasing anything? Here' what I already have:
    -GC controller (wires exposed)
-USB cable that came with WIFI adapter for DS (wires exposed on port side)
    -Wire stripper
    -Mac OS X

    Here are a few questions-
    1. Would connecting the two harm my Mac?
    2. Do I have to start over? (Did I do anything wrong?)
    3. Would the connection also work with a Mad Katz GC DDR pad?

    Please help!

Is it possible to transfer information from the gamecube controller's wires to the USB's wires?
Sorry, I know nothing about this stuff but it doesn't seem like that would be possible unless they have the same type of wiring.

I don want to transfer information, I just want to control my Mac using a GC controller. Also, you only need to use four wires on from the GC controller.
Let me just say my question again: What wires do you have to connect to the USB cord to play Stepmania on my Mac? (Sorry for not mentioning that before!)

i'm pretty sure you can't do that. if you can, it's way more trouble than it's worth.

they make gamecube to usb adaptors lol, google it. they probably are cheap, and if they are expensive -- ebay!

          Google ftw.

I would suggest buying it. So much easier.

          Here is for PC gaming...

I wish you good luck, for there is no real walkthrough, but if you are feeling adventurous here is the pin layout for the gamecube controllers.

Well now it looks like I totally ****ed up my pad and controller...
But by that I mean I might have made a useless mod.
I really can't believe that other people haven't made a walkthrough for this, or had at least attempted this.
Here is one more thing that I worry about:
-How will I be able to control the energy connection between the USB and the controller? I dont want it to explode or short circuit, screwing up my comp. I also don't want to disassemble every dang thing I need.

I would put it back together, and just order the USB adapter. If it was an XBOX it would be so much more easier. Gamecube designed thier controllers before USB was going to be the technology used for gaming controllers and such. Xbox based thiers around it so yeah. Just put it all back together and order the adapter. You will be better off in the long run.

Edit on another note the usb should have 4 wires. LOOK HERE
USB is universal serial bus, so with that in mind one could connect 2 usb devices as long as you are 100% sure which wires are which. If you are not sure then don't mess up a mac, do it to a PC.

I can't put it back together because on the part where I cut the slot off, there is no way to possibly take out the wires unless I dissa-oh. Thats It! I think I got it! I have to dissasemble the stub! But there is no screw... How do I cut open plastic without screwing up the USB components? Hacksaw?
