Upgrades Needed...

I can't play Quake 4... and I want to know what upgrades I need.

That's what I need.

Now I've looked up some of these drivers and I don't know which is the newest. I'm more concerned about them.

I have found ones for Vista, but I'm assuming that XP won't support them?



Which are newer?



Sorry if this is confusing, I have no time to really think about how to word it.

I know I need more RAM and a better video/sound card...

I just don't know which one...

And in the end, I'll probably just need to get a new tower.

OK, those that you listed are different cards, not different drivers. Post your current specs so we can see them.

The minimum video card you need is one with 64 mb of memory and supports OpenGL, so unless you have integrated graphics you're most likely fine there. You don't really need a sound card either.

Mainly we need to know what you currently have in your system. If right now you can't even play Quake 4 on entirely minimum settings your rig must be pretty old. If your comp is around 4 years old you probably don't have any PCIe slots, so you're better off just getting a new computer.

Well, you'll want to exceed the requirements to run the game smoothly. If you're willing to pay like 1000 dollars you could just get a new computer all together that will run everything really nice. A duo core with 2+ gb of ram and a nice vcard should clock in around there or less depending, and then you won't have to upgrade your pc for a few years.
