I just picked it up. Those of you who have any experience: make with the advice/criticisms.

I just started it a few days ago, I haven't gotten very far. Only played with the Valkyrie so far and the game was only starting to get challenging during my last session of play, so I can't say much yet, definitely enjoyable this far though.

It's great, I've fallen absolutely in love with it. I have about 25 hours right now. The whole game is just beautiful, and the voice acting is outstanding! Some of the best I've ever heard. (A little note: Gwendolyn sounds just like Claudia from Romancing SaGa - Minstrel song) The gameplay mechanics are great. Classic SNES style action! You kill guys then they release Phozons which you absorb to gain EXP to level up your weapon, or to grow plants for fruit. You also gain EXP for HP from eating fruit, and other things which you will find out later. It's not necessarily the easiest game either, people I've talked to say they have a lot of trouble. I guess you could be a noob, and play easy.

Also, if you aren't really liking it with Gwendolyn you should stick it out, and beat it. After you beat it with her you unlock Cornelius, which he is way more fun to play with. I've almost beaten it with Mercedes, and to be honest the story with her sucks compared to the other two. She plays very differently though; she uses a bow. Then I guess you unlock Oswald, and then Velvet.

As for tips... Keep well stocked on healing items. Painkillers are some of the best items in the game, and make things much easier. Toxin is also nice, but hard to come by and hard to make. Also, don't go being an idiot and mindlessly attacking enemies, it doesn't work.

It's pretty fun though.

Adversarial Ring is the awesomest item I've collected thus far. It's SO HANDY.
I believe the description is "Attack power increases as you take damage". Badass.

That's what it says? I thought it was attack power increases, but you take damage or something like that ...lol

Another good item that you'll get later is the Vampire Ring. You could probably guess that its effect is as you do damage to enemies you slowly regain HP.

This game is made by Atlus...man, that company makes some kickass games.

It really sounds good, and by reading what all of you have said, it would surely be worth buying. Too bad I don't have any money. =\

("...magical relic known as the "Cauldron"" LOL. Lore. I didn't think they'd incorporate anything of Lore and such in any game. That's seriously sweet.)


This couldn't beat Nocturne, though, no matter how good it is.

I got through his whole entire story without really using shadow ability. So I don't think it is because of that.


.. Lots of Spoilers..




Shadow ability + Invisible + Napalm = ownage
Shadow ability + Unlimited POW --> Did NOT work

I also hated the fact that he can't move around opponents very easily like Gwendolyn and Mercedes can. Even Cornelius can move around opponents easily using his down square specialty.

Oh.. and for Velvet. My opinion for Velvet is total meat tank character. Can't move, can't evade, can only really block and hit.

Question though: Is there really any benefit to playing this game on difficult? I've heard that all the extra stories are using different pattern combo's to defeat the final bosses.

And Yogurt Stew gives you crap loads of hit point exp.

Yeah when they all come together and you choose which characters should face which bosses. There is a text you pick up some time before which pretty much obviously gives it away on who you need to put where to get the true ending.

I've watched my brother play this game a lot. Hes up to Mercedes. Looks like a cool game, I might have to start my own save.
