After reading this months PC Gamer on a plane ride from hell this weekend on a family fishing trip, I stumbled across a game thats been in the making for years that I nearly forgot about. After Searching the forums I noticed it has no FFR coverage.
Flagship Studious, contrived of a large number of the ex-diablo series developers, is planning to release thier new title "Hellgate: London" in late summer of 2007. Im assuming it'll be around early fall befor christmas shoping starts up befor we see it. Yes im guilty of standing in the best-buy line of death on nov. 31 (biggest sale of the year) like a cow waiting to be slaughtered.... Mooooo! But It worth it to get the 50' plasma.
In May of 2006 Flagship Studios was shocked to find out that a oversees hacker had hijacked the games source code and was selling it on a personal website. As many of you remember back in the day this simalar scenario happened to Vavle Software when preping Half-Life 2. Thus the year delay wasnt a shocker for Hellgate: London.
The game itself is a diablo-esque style of loot system meets Doom 3 (FPS) or Diablo (RPG). Giving players the option to play the game either way they wish. As of now the game is entirly free after purchasing the box set from any retailer allowing players to play the whole single player storyline aswell as a full online community much like diablo 2's multiplayer was and NO MONTHLY FEE!!! Players then have the option to pay for VIP status allowing new content to come slightly faster aswell as a few extra options. Much like that of FFR Subscriptions.
Those of you seeking more information can find all you need >>Here<< A little birdie in the industry told me that they might plan to be holding closed/open beta befor it releasal. Join the Survivors and subscribe and you never know if they might randomly select a few folks from the community list to test it out. *wink wink* For those of you in seattle simply try showing up and asking to test at the lab. Sounds a bit impossibled but I went out and got into the friends and family alpha for WOW: Burning Crusade by showing up a blizzards doorstep in Anihiem California, so believe me effort = results.
Long story short put this on your "to buy" list for this summers games and it wont let you down. Bill Ropper, the diablo 2 fan boys salute you. You Still ow me my right index finger from the 10k mephisto runs...
