    R-R-R-Runescape

Crap graphics but FRANTASIC gameplay...if only all those 8 year olds would stop playing. The cap in that game is rapeingly high which would probably take a person at least 3 years to get 99 in each skill. Updated weekly aswell.

Runescape hardly counts for an MMORPG. It's more like an MMOG.

Well, that's just one half of the RP experience. You are missing the other half, the story surrounding the game. I like games where places are hyped before you get there and when you are actually there, you get a very special feeling that you are actually in a place where key details in the lore occured.

To be honest, I hate all of that "lore" and story crap in MMORPGs. I just want to have fun <__<

Meh, everyone has their own opinions. I'm a bit close minded that way, I don't like that opinion so I shut it out all the time.

A good example (although there are many) is World of Warcraft. If you read all the books and played all the games, you'll know certain NPCs in the game and the importance they hold. I mean, if you play the game without knowing a character like Thrall, the game holds no more meaning than a mindless grind game. However, if you've read the lore and know his accomplishments, when you actually meet him in-game as an NPC, you'll be in total awe. Same goes for cities, in Sword of Mana, they hyped about one city for the longest time and I was wondering when we would get to it and when I actually got to it, I was like, "WOAH, I'm here now."

I totally agree with Tsu on this one.

I have WoW, and have been a huge warcraft fan since the very first game. Seeing the "heroes" of warcraft III as NPCs in WoW was totally awesome. I had a friend who had no prior knowledge of warcraft with me when we got to see Varimathas and Lady Slyvanas (Important War 3 people) and he was just like "yeah, that's nice, grab their quests and lets get out of here."

                That's just lame.

If you just want a simple but fun MMORPG try Sherwood.
It uses Shockwave I believe, and its fully 3D and free!

I used to play that bunches a while back, it's a LOT deeper than it seems at first, and you can get sucked in rather easily. Very very challenging puzzles if you don't use the spoiler sites. <3 the final boss.
