elder scrolls help please?

ive been an elderscrolls addict since morrowind came out but since day one i havnt been able to figure out what turning undead does!
can someone tell me what it does cuz im trying to make a character right now on oblivion.

Rather than, you know, google it or read the manual or anything like that.

Or, you know, trying it on undead.

It "turns" undead. It does exactly what it says. It's like casting fear on undead, they run away, then come back after it runs out.

I think turn undead turns the undead to join your side for a while, but I never used it though. I just go and kill them.
