    Phantom Dust

Surprisingly, I've seen no thread about this. o.0

For those who don't know, Phantom Dust was released over here in the States on the XBOX for about $20. I picked up an XBOX late last summer, and this is one of the first games I got for it. HOLY CARP-AS-IN-THE-FISH, IT'S AWESOME. The gameplay is sorta...well, imagine like a collectible card game, except you get to shoot people with fireballs and stuff. I haven't played it online yet, but split screen is incredibly fun.

    So...has anyone else played it?

What do you exactly mean it is like a collectible card game? Do you have creatures and they fight each other, or is it just with one person against another person using different spells or weapons? Is it all more player vs player based, or is there a story mode? I'm curious to know what this game is like.

Hmm...I guess I could look it up online...

Okay, I'll break down the fighting.

There are up to 4 characters fighting at once, I believe (2 per team). You, however, can only control your character. The fighting involves picking up skills that are generated at what I call their set 'respawn points' and fighting with them in a third-person shooter engine. Each character has 20 life. If you run out of life, of course, you lose. What's interesting is that all of the environments are destructible, as in you can use your skills to make a floor collapse underneath your enemy, or clear a blockage so your long-range skills can reach your target, and whatnot. Let's just say there's more to the game than just FIRE MAH LAZOR.

It's similar to a collectible card game due to the skills. You bring to each fight an arsenal case, which would be like a deck, and it can contain up to 30 skills, which are your 'cards'. There are attack skills, which all have set amounts of damage, and defense skills, which all have set amounts of damage that they can take from one attack before breaking, but then there are special skills, which benefit you, status skills, affecting an enemy, and erase skills, which debilitate the opponent by a few means (like erasing their skills). You can't just go in with tons of skills, though. All skills require aura to use, and you need aura in your arsenal in order to be completely successful. There are tons of other things with this, but you'll understand it more if you play the game.

There IS a story mode, which you don't unlock the arsenal in until you beat the first two chapters. Those two chapters are just an intro to the game's engine, getting you familiar with the skills and whatnot, so you have an idea of what you want in your arsenal before you can even make one.

It sounds pretty fun. I'll have to look into that next time I'm looking for a game.

        Thanks for the info.
