    Botched Up Video Games

Don't you just hate it when you know your favorite movie/cartoon becomes a video game, and play it to only find out that it's the crappiest thing you ever played? And even if it's not based on a movie/cartoon, isn't botched video games the crappiest games you've ever had to play? I mean I THINK there are some decent movie/cartoon-type video games, but I wouldn't bet on that.

Anyways, I would like everyone's thoughts on botched video games, and when you first played your first botched up video game. For me, it was Batman: Vengeance. Yeah, it was pretty decent in its storyline, but let's face it. The puzzles were confusing, it was hard to move without taking damage, and what was most frustrating about Batman: Vengeance was that you had to spend 10 minutes trying to use the Grappling Hook to climb up a ledge.

The cape-gliding system was crap too. I ended up dying 10 times in one stage because I would always come short of my jump, and fall down from the rooftops. One more thing; the cheat letters were definitely retardedly hard to get. One letter you had to constantly use your cape to glide to a box that was too far away, and was level with the box you had to glide off of. And one, well, let's just say trying to avoid toxic waste while trying to stay on little boxes that doesn't even PROVIDE the room to jump to the next is just sad.

Anyways, everyone, discuss your most hated botched up video games.

    Re: Botched Up Video Games

I hear Superman 64 was pretty bad.

I picked up Xena: Talisman of Fate for seven dollars at a Target once, and expected very little for a multiplayer, 3D fighting game, least of all a franchise whore.

And, as fighting games go, it was horrible. Absolutely atrocious. Many special moves existed for the sake of existing and not because they would be beneficial to the character who's using them. Collision detection apparently forgot to be coded into the game. And the AI was frequently too hard to the point that you had to come up with some stupid little way to do the same thing over and over to kill them since it was too dumb to get around your little "hack".

Also, Callisto screams. We get it. We hear it plenty in the series, so you didn't have to make her utter a bloodcurdling scream every time she did a special move.

HOWEVER, my friends and I popped it one night at a party and we ended up playing it for several hours on end. Part of it was novelty that there wasn't another multiplayer 3D fighter on the 64, and part of it was just because we liked ****ing around with friends, but we got well over seven dollars in entertainment value out of that game.

Samurai Jack was probably a really bad game. I loved it though because I dry bum the show.

Most horribly botched game in my oppinion, a throwback to the classic NES, Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde. Not only did the story and the game itself make almost no sense in terms of logic (going to the chapel to get married, only to be stopped by dogs, victorian women, opera singers, people who for some unexplained reason throw bombs at you, etc), but it was HARD AS HELL! basically Dr. Jeckly has an anger meter, and every time hit, the meter increases. once its full, he turns into mr. hyde. you would think this is a good thing, because u can shoot fire and crap like that (which also makes no sense in context to the story), but there is one problem, you are moving BACKWARDS as Mr. hyde, so it takes the 1 step forward 2 steps back theory to a whole new level. you can end up going PAST the STARTING POINT!!!!! oh and dr jeckyls only defense is his his ULTIMATE CANE OF DEATH....jk, its practically useless....but yea, prolly one of the worst games EVER!
The reaper is the happiest being of all, because death is plentiful in this realm....

          Enter the Matrix.

I still don't see how they took such an awesomely cool and perfectly video-game-ish movie and ****ed it up SO BAD.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O

I'd say that 50 Cent: Bulletproof was the crappiest game I've ever played. Has anyone else ever played it?

Dragonball Z: Sagas blew. The thing that irked me the most was the retarded flying(or lack there of) system. You have to collect these "Z coins" to purchase new skills and upgrades...and sometimes the Z coins would be floating high up in the air. But noooo, you couldn't just take off from the ground and fly up to get them. The only way to get those dam coins would be to jump to a higher vantage point, then jump and push X to hover, then pretty much float your way to it.
Also, whenever your character does it's signature ki attack, the screen goes dark and everything moves in super slow motion. It's pretty sweet at first, but gets annoying...especially if you're playing with a friend and he keeps doing it. It's like "ok bro, I can kill these peons faster if you just let me combo them instead of you doing kamehameha and putting us in slow-mo"

It's much worse then they adapt a game as a show poorly.

                          Re: Botched Up Video Games

Pokemon has to be one of the few games that is better than the actual show itself. The concept of the Pokemon game is so simple and entertaining.

The show however, became redundant after the first season. I don't even have to watch the show to know what it is about. Ash does something, Team Rocket screws things up, Ash does something about it, Pikachu does all the work, Team Rocket flies away.

Now that I think about it, a lot of the first season had that, at least they had some variety in show plots.

Also, has anyone ever played 187: Ride or Die? There have been some bad racing games in the past, but that one just sucked out loud. The shooting system was inaccurate and it made it very difficult to hit your enemies. In addition, the steering was difficult to control as you kept sliding into walls and people kept hitting you with machine guns. My message to that game,

That Lupin the Third game that came out a while ago.

The one where you had a disguise meter and everything. It didn't completely suck, but it was a major dissapointment, because Lupin is so awesome.
