Okay, I'll assume this is right for now, I can't get the goddamn game to run ATM.
:Edit - Yes I just checked, you can change the controls. Either that was added with a recent patch or I missed it (doubt it, I checked the menus carefully because I can't play a game without moving the controls):
So this brings up another point: The interface, which is clumsy as hell.
You think in the control windows that pops up after hitting the "control" button, right underneath "options", there would be a way to change the controls from there? Nope, you can't.
Second, the windows are extremely cluttered on the screen and the interface and navigating the servers and areas doesn't make much sense.
In higher levels of play in Halo 2, stuff stuff stuff stuff
Yeah, that's what annoys me about BF2, because I play with a bunch of strangers. Sometimes I am awesome in combat and dominate everybody. However, there are many times where I flat out SUCK at the actual shooting part of the game. On the contrary, there is never a time that I suck as a medic and don't revive everybody and heal people when they ask for healing (or don't ask, much of the time), or suck at following orders or in general helping the team. I'm very good at the mental part of the game (avoiding mines, putting mines where they WON'T be avoided, sneaking up on people, knowing which point to capture first, knowing when to defend or attack, using other people's kits when needed, knowing when to avoid artillery, etc etc) no matter what, but it seems like so many people play the game in a completely unorganized fashion, just trying to get kills and not die and not worrying about the team at all.
HOWEVER, when I play with my roommate, even if both of us are having a fairly bad game and our entire team is filled with idiots, the only way people can beat us is if they are cooperating as a team. We discuss which kits we are going in with and do specific tasks that we know will **** the enemy up (ie: both be medic and keep our entire team alive, be spec ops and support and run around C4ing their assets so they can't artillery/UAV/scan, be dual engineers in two vehicles, surprise tanks as dual anti-tank). Whoever is squad leader gets to a safe spot and makes sure the rest of the squad (which is usually just the other one of us) can spawn in and secure the area first. Every so often we'll get some people on our squad, and we make sure we fill things they don't get (like if a bunch of medics join our squad, we play support since people that get revived a lot tend to run out of ammo). However, most people who play the game don't even seem to know that squads exist, so they don't join them. Sometimes though, when they see me and my roommate as the top players (we both have a [rofl] tag before our names for fun :P) they will join our squad and the commander will start paying more attention to us and drop us supplies and cars without us asking.
I'd really like if more people I knew played BF2 so we could all sit together and play it, because having somebody you can physically talk to makes it SO much easier to play as a team and keep things organized. Even just playing with somebody on my squad who has a mic and can shout things (like the other night I was in a helicopter and my gunner had a mic and would tell me if I needed to turn a bit for him to hit stuff, which I do with my roommate all the time, so I was a great pilot and he got TONS of kills) makes me WAY better at the game. I wish I could play in a LAN match with other people who are good at the game. =\
Also, about ET, covert ops can single-handedly win certain missions that have backdoors. It's always REALLY annoying on that beach-landing mission when you're German and have held the Allies off the whole time flawlessly when suddenly you lose and see some covert guy like HAHAHA OWNED YOU IDIOTS ROFL BACKDOORED in the chat. Also, them being able to walk aruond disguised always had me on edge, and I got TKed quite a bit running back to get ammo/health packs from teammates, so I think it got other people on edge too.
why are you guys making such a big deal out of this thread.just get the game and play.if you dont like it funk off you idiots
Other stuff got brought up in the topic, so we're discussing it too. I still haven't played this game, but since people have said several times that it's more about combat than teamwork, I definitely won't get it. As I have said before, I'm better when there is a bigger emphasis on teamplay instead of pure FPS skill. I suck at games that overly emphasize pure FPS skill *cough*CS*cough*, and I don't have fun when I'm losing a lot (as in, dying in the first 10 seconds and then can't respawn for a couple minutes), so I don't play them.
Anti: Quit being a poopy-head, there's nothing wrong with the term turd-face.
Wait a second, anti? Didn't you disappear or something? =O!
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(
In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.
Like, for example, "they updated the game and gave it a new game mode" or "I'm getting back into this game and need some FFRers to play with, do any of you play it?"
