    ePSXe CD Detection

Ever since my PS1's laser burnt out ive been playing my 100+ PS1 games on my computer, right now though ePSXe wont pick up my CD drive when I go to configure which CD drive I want to use.

Everything else plays fine, like actual PC games, music etc. All I get is a blank dropdown box when it should say something like

    D:LG CD Burner

When I go to my computer I see in drive D:

    D:CHRONOCROSS

Iv'e tried multiple CD drivers in ePSXe 1.5 (I'm using VER 1.5 because 1.6 isn't compatible with Chrono Cross, the game I want to play) and still none of them will pick up my D drive, all it would pick up is my Virtual E: drive (Which I use to run ISOs, but I disabled it to see if that would help)

So if anyone has a clue on how to fix this that would be great. I miss my crappy old games.

Buying a PS1 would be a waste though, seeing as the PS2s will probably be around 80-90$ when the PS3 comes out, that what happened when the PS2 took place of the PS1 at least. Plus PS1's aren't available in stores any more and I don't have a credit card for ebay.

emulators technically aren't illegal. Roms and ISOs are illegal.
Other than that i don't know how to fix your problem.

THE CLIENT SAID THAT WHEN HIS PS1 LAZER BURNT OUT HE COULD NO LONGER PLAY HIS PS1 GAMES. NOW OWNING EMULATORS IS NOT WRONG YOU SEE AND CLEARLY HE HAS SHOWN THAT HE IS USING THE ORIGINAL RETAIL DISCS AND SIMPLY USING THE EMULATOR TO PLAY THEM SINCE HIS PS1 IS BROKE'D. THAT IS LEGAL! YOUR ACCUSATIONS ARE AS EMPTY AS YOUR SOUL!

I think you should change your emlulator and take a better one or download a better CD-Drive plugin.
And Rom and ISO is legal IF you have the game!

                Re: ePSXe CD Detection

IF you read, you'd see I'm running the game directly from the disc, so this is NOT illegal.

And I think it might be a problem with the CD burner it's self, I'll get PSXeven and ePSXe 1.6 and try that I guess, but I'm not 100% sure PSXeven will work with Chrono Cross.

Well, the BIOS is illegal because I know you didn't rip it from your own system. So this is illegal.

                    Re: ePSXe CD Detection

As long as he paid for the PS1 once, I don't think anybody gives a damn. In the end, those things are only illegal cuz it means Sony wouldn't sell a unit to him, but if they've already done that I don't think they really care.

But this isn't about the legality of things, it's about helping him. But uh, I've never used emulators past N64, and even that is kinda buggy. I think I tried a PS1/2 emulator once (I think when one of my PS2s stopped reading purple/black discs and hadn't been replaced yet, but I wanted to play some purple-bottomed disc) and nothing seemed to work, so I can't help you. =\
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O

Yeah, so? He was saying it wasn't illegal when it clearly is.

Anyway, download a general ASPI driver from adaptec. If not then you're going to have to rip the game to your hardrive and run it as an .iso.

Yea, I've tried lots of ASPI drivers. But my ISO creator isn't picking up my CD drive either so I guess I'll have to set up a LAN and copy the ISOs from my other old computer.
