    Harvest Moon

So, I just picked up A Wonderful Life today because this seems like a perfect Guido game. A little bit into it and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with everything I have to keep my eye on. Farming your crops, tending to your cows, chickens, and pets, fishing, giving presents to your neighbors so that you can get a cat or a good hoe later, finding a wife, rearing a child, all while not forgetting to hug your cattle... It is a lot, but I expect much fun out of this game.

Anyone else play this game and, if so, do y'all have any tips for an HM newbie?

Have you played the SNES version? I had an amazing time with that game. I heard that the sequels on the 64 and GC were not that amazing, but I haven't had any personal experience with them. From the SNES version though, my only tip would be not to cut down your own crops. O_O

I've played the gameboy ones and the N64 ones. Just make sure to figure out all of your neighbor's favorite foods so you can get more affection, which means better things for you. Plan your crops accordingly because the community really does help you out. Also, make sure to explore the surrounding areas because there are usually helpful things that you can find. Fishing is also very good for money just because you don't have to stress over tending crops and making sure they don't get destroyed or eaten. Not sure if the games are the same but I hope it helped =/

        Re: Harvest Moon

I've played this game, it was a pretty good game, just not on Harvest Moon standards. I played a Harvest Moon for PS1(wow forgot the subtitle sorry) and found it very, very fun. If I didn't lose it, I'd still be playing it from time to time today. When I played Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life(only difference is the title and you play as a girl, like Pokemon only with a less legitimate reason), I didn't really like it quite as much for what I was expecting out of Harvest Moon.

You should read some reviews on GameFAQs about some Harvest Moon games, if you like this one. I mean yeah, it's a pretty good game, but there are even better ones out there that you can probably get used for $5 or something like that.

I've also played one on the GBC, it was mediocre. I mean it was good-ish for a GBC game, but it kinda got boring after a few days, but it's still played rarely on and off.

My friend has this game. I played it a little. I was really turned off by the non fixed overhead perspective. And don't you get very little space for harvesting crops? In the Super Nintendo one, you can put crops literally anywhere on your farm and your farm is ****ing huge.

It's been said already, but if you want to play Harvest Moon, what you want really is the SNES version. The only downside is that the game ends after two and a half years. The upside to it is that that's more than enough time for everything.

            Re: Harvest Moon

I first played the N64 one and got hooked. Although it's glitched all over the place and the grammar isn't very good ("wellcome home, dear", "you got a win"), it's an overall very fun game. C'mon, you have to love a game by a publisher that misspells its own name on the title screen!

I got Friends of Mineral Town, too, and that was quite a lot of fun as well. It might start to wear old after several consecutive years of play, but it's a lot of fun while you're still into it.

I haven't played any of the GCN, PS1, or PS2 games, so I can't give you any gameplay pointers. But, I'm glad another lunatic has joined the HM ranks.

I tried Friends of Mineral Town, and I COULD NOT get into it, no matter how much I tried. I tired and tried and tried and the more I kept playing, the more I kept wondering, "When does this game get to being fun?" But the fun never arrived.

Oh yeah, the game I played was Harvest Moon: Back to Nature. It was a really, really fun game, in my opinion.
