    Re: E3 gone?

I think it's a pretty good idea. After reading the IGN reports every year it seems like it's always really crowded and hectic. This way the people up top can get in and really give us in-depth reports on the games without crazed E3 people running around everywhere. I guess it would kind of suck if you wrote for a smaller video game website, though.

It was a lot of fun the years i went, so I have no idea why you would say that, but I think anyone who took seriously what they were seeing and believing the hype shouldn't work for a magazine anyways. It was a PR spectacle, although I always found time to get to talk to developers seriously about their games. That was my favorite part. Losing to the guy who monikers Gabe from PA at Pacman for a set of collectable toys at the Namco booth two years ago could be a close second.

It was a rather odd affair, and honestly I couldn't understand why it was so crazed, like a thousand casinos without walls next to each other. But hey, I had a great time. As for it being expensive to attend, I think I would spend a total of 50 bucks each year, spent on food and gas. if you couldn't afford that then you shouldn't be going. If you have to pay for a badge to go, then well, y oushouldn't be going either. It will make things easier for smaller game companies to compete and get their news and games out, instead of being sequestered in Kensia Hall.

I figure that I can be down with the downsized version, seeing as it is still going to deliver the news and such, though I find it unlikely I'll be able to go. Oh well. At least now there won't be dry spells when people hold back as much in the months leading up to E3.

        Re: E3 gone?

I think the best news here is that the E3 date won't be the only big date for releasing info. The limited-info-until-E3 thing causes 2 big problems, I think. 1) Companies are rushed to have things by E3. This makes a lot of the things you see not comparable to what the company will have as a finished version, or you may just not see anything, and rather than show it when they're ready, they wait until NEXT YEAR. This leads me to 2) intentionally delaying of information. Rather than tell us, they keep it a secret for E3. Hopefully that doesn't happen much anymore.

While I was waiting around at my sister's apartment before work, I was watching AotS and they were talking about it. Everybody seemed agreed that E3 dying was kinda sad, but ultimately good because the goodness of E3 would be spread out through the year, which means we wouldn't have surges of "omg I want 20 new games that are awesome but can't buy them all now" and then "wow every game released sucks lately" slumps later on every year.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O
