    Problems

Ok I've been having problems lately with gaming on my laptop. It wasn't built for gaming and I know it but I still play them. I have an Intel Celeron which is horrible for games to my understanding. I have 248MB of RAM, 40ishGB of HD, a weird resolution of 1280X768, and everthing else, (Graphics Card, Motherboard, etc.) are all stock Dell. It's an inspiron 1300 too...

Ok enough about the computer. Now about the ingame problems.

    1) CounterStrike: The only game that doesn't have any problems except minor lag bursts and server lags. Normal resolution. (800X600)

    2) MapleStory: Takes forever for the game to start up and when it does it lags. Lags. Lags. In game it lags like crazy when I'm completely alone or surrounded by enemies. So I took to having to play it downstairs on the main computer when someone isn't on it.

    3) GunZ: It never gets passed the Loading InterFace Skin part. Wtf?

WTF. I'm thinking more RAM and new Graphics card.

PS: Would substituting that Page File Usage memory that acts as RAM work for my games?

      Re: Problems

It's not a gaming machine. That is the reason for everything.

      Get a gaming machine.

Yea. The problem is I can't get a new computer for like another year. I don't have a job and my parents don't give me anything so I'll have to get a job when I turn 15 and save up.. Until then I stick with ****ty laggy game play...

OH MY GOD. 248 MB of RAM? That's your main problem. It's disgustingly low. Using the pagefile will do you no good. You need at least 1 gig for any network game to run efficiently without lag. Contact Dell or go to newegg and buy at least 1 gig of RAM. You should notice tremendous improvement overall, not just for games. If not, you can put it in a new computer when you get the money.

As for the graphics card, I can't be too sure. I think Dell uses Intel Xtreme Graphics 2 on entry-level laptops, which should be just fine for what you're running. It handles WoW okay from what I understand.

              1) I don't have CS. Never played it either.
              2) It's most likely a problem with gameguard. Try playing without your firewalls on sometime, including the internal Windows one.
              3) It means you're IP blocked. Certain IPs from certain countries are blocked by default. If you're in the US and trying to play International, you're just IP banned. If you're in the US trying to play India, you're IP blocked by your country.

A couple of smaller countries are IP blocked on International, but VERY few.

                About that GunZ thing:

I downloaded it on the main comp where I am at now and it worked. I played a few games and got to level 3. I have to say one thing though. These people are retarded. They stand still and shoot and just hold in the button. It's obvious that all the bullets aren't going to hit in one spot so I fire in bursts towards the head based on CS instincts.

Ok. Another problem. It says torrenting files and goes to the top. As soon as it would say Torrenting stopped it goes down to like 97.50%. Then it NEVER finishes uploading. WTF.

Oh. Thank god. I really like this game.

Ps: I achieved a kill:death ratio of 10:1 on CS tonight. I was so happy.

I maintained it for a while too
