Contrary to popular belief, I do not play only RPGs. In fact, I happen to be quite good at a great deal of action/adventure games. I believe I hold 2 or 3 world records on Sonic Adventure 2, actually. But that's besides the point.

But yeah, I grew up on the great 2D games of the SNES. 3D is very nice, and makes for some awesome games and gameplay. But the style of most 3D games just don't cut it for me. An example of a 3D game I think has great graphics is Viewtiful Joe. It doesn't try to be ultra-realistic; it tries to be cartoony and fun. And really, being fun is what games are all about. I love cel-shading for this same reason. Just not the realistic junk.

@Moogy - Just as a question, can you name a 3d that isn't side scrolling that you can actually say that you like? Im not trying be sarcastic in anyway. I just think that you like 2d. And if it can't be 2d, it has to be a side scroller. Personally I think 3d side scrollers are a waiste of time. But thats just because developers never through in anything to fill the gap. The save a whole lot of space just by makeing the game a side scroller, then waiste a whole lot more space by not extending the game, or adding in more cutscenes. Really is stupid IMO.

Also, I am a big fan of racing games so of course I think 3D kicks 2D's ass.

Hey Jewpin, leave it alone. Nobody wants to play that game unless you give them a 23 chapter Non-Fictional novel about it. You might as well just call up the creators and pass the phone down the line of Dan Rather fanboys.

Ico is a very cool game, Jewpin. I will be picking up Shadow of the Colossus as soon as I get money.

87x: There are almost no side-scrolling 3D platformers. The only ones I can think of are the Klonoa series, which are the best side-scroller and action games ever made, however. Klonoa is really more 2 1/2D, though; only Klonoa 2 is really 3D. Like I said, I enjoy most 3D platformers a great deal, especially if they have a ton of stuff to unlock like the Sonic Adventure series. Super Monkey Ball is awesome, of course. And of course, this isn't even getting into RPGs. I love most RPGs unconditionally - I don't really care if they're 3D or 2D. I just prefer 2D to 3D because it looks much better in every aspect. 2D sprites on 3D environments works well, too.

Normally, I'd agree with you, but I own a copy of DragonBall Z Legends. The gameplay is awesome for being so original, but the sprites were very poorly done.

Not only do the sprites look bad, but they don't have enough points of rotation, so on the finishing moves where the camera rotates all around, it looks really shitty.

They really shouldn't have an excuse to make crappy games like this, but that doesn't stop them. You've gotta admit that most games based on a franchise like that turn out to be crap, regardless of how good or bad the source material was. They figure that hey, if the games will fly off the shelves due to the name/license alone, why bother putting a ton of money into making it actually good?
