Another reason why DS > PSP

At least one portable won't have region-locking; Nintendo has gone on record as saying the Nintendo DS will be region-free. If you're unfamiliar with the term, that means any game from any continent (such as North America, Europe, and Asia) will work on any DS. Consoles and DVD players lock-out discs from other regions, so for instance DVD players sold in North America only play DVDs sold in North America. As noted last week, PSP software will be region-locked.

DS will be great. Wirelessness, Stylus, this...

And the fact that it's Nintendo, the company that's been putting out the top handhelds since Gameboy first came out.

i wouldn't call them "top" handhelds. THey had plenty of crap third party games, and NeoGeo was ten times better.

Top selling then, happy. Know why? The perfect combination of portability, reliability, and most importantly, cost. Not to mention the long battery life. Look at every competitor to the Game Boy and they always fell flat on their face on one of these areas. You need to be perfect in them all to be good in the handheld market. And all systems, consoles, devices have crap games at some point.

              Suck my fucking balls, PSP.
yeah, i have to agree with that now

Basically, amongst all other handhelds, Nintendo SURVIVED.

Neo-Geo? That's only arcade and rommed now.
                  N-Gage? PLEASE.
                  Game.com? Peice of junk.
Game Gear? Awesome, but needed 6 batteries to play for 4 hours. And they stopped making games for it.
Cybiko? It was good for 2-color free downloadable games...but it was still pretty bad.

Any others I missed probably sucked anyway.

that's why you buy the gi-hun-ormous adapter for Game Gear.

Actually, I'm going to buy neither.

I just want to defend Nintendo's awesome integrity.

I don't want to spend another $100-200 on a system that may or may not have good games.

Sure, GBA looked like it would be awesome, but in the end it had so few good games. That really angered me... even though I only bought it for Golden Sun.

I'm with Squeek on this. Except I'm leaning towards PSP and I hated Golden Sun. : )

Even if I do bother to buy one, it won't be until MONTHS after they're both released.

I'm still going to say it's pointless to argue about this until AFTER the systems are released. Then we can start more shitty threads with more flaming.
