    Silent Hill 4.

Installing it now as I'm typing this.

It's been out for a bit and I'm surprised there isn't already a topic on it.

I've played the other three and I own #2. But, I am selling it on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MESE:IT) .

I'm just borrowing it from a friend now. I wouldn't buy it because I've never been a big fan of the series. I hear the other games have many metaphorical meanings and the like.. Hopefully it won't be too scary

    RE: Silent Hill 4.

I played a bit, maybe half hour.

The way the game is presented to you as a whole, I think has already made it better than the first three. You start the game off in first-person mode (WTF?). You are trapped in your apartment room for five days. The door has been chained shut from the inside (WTF? again) and barred with locks. But, you soon find a huge gaping hole on your bathroom wall and, of course, you go through it.

That's when I stopped, I'll be going back to it though.

The graphics are pretty damn good without being excesive. I was running it at 1024x800 with no skips and still looking pretty damn beauitiul. I was looking through the options a bit too, seems you can't get out of first-person mode.. I don't know how they're going to work that out (I've never seen screenshots of this game through first-person mode so I wasn't expecting it at all (not expecting it to stay either)).

The game also doesn't throw you into a world where everything is dead/silent. You can look out through your windows in your apartment and you can see life. I thought that was pretty refreshing. You watch the streets as you see people waiting around, walking into the subway, and taking busses. I also looked out a window on the side of the house and saw the side of another apartment complex. Saw some guy dancing alone in his apartment, and then saw another guy who was wearing no pants (no underwear either) looking through his window. At the beginning they make you look through the peephole in your front door and you can see your neighbor picking up trash and complaining.

I wrote too much about it already. I'm going off to play it again.

    Captions in order:
    OMGWTF a hole
The door says, "Don't go out -Walter"

EDIT EDIT EDIT: The fighting system.
The first-person mode ends when you step out of your room (through the hole). The battle system is clunky and it makes melee fighting harder, although it doesn't make it impossible. The camera angles (which aren't locked into place, they change when say.. you step around a corner but then they move with you) make it hard to see your enemies.. that's what killed me the first time.

Why are you playing this on the PC? Any true gamer would play it on the PS2.

Moogy, for this sort of game I'd agree with you, except that I'd much rather have the PC's superior graphics backing it up. Plus, even though the screen is half as small, it's much scarier when you're sitting two inches away from it.
