    F.E.A.R.

Anyone else following this game? Anyone else even heard of it? For those of you who don't know, F.E.A.R. is an intense close-quarters survival/horror first person shooter. It begins when you respond to a radio call concerning a paramilitary group taking a base hostage. The only reason you're there is because the original team got ripped to shreds- literally. You go in to find out what the hell happened, and contain the problem.

This game looks fast paced, intense, gory as hell, scary, and pretty much defines everything I love in a shooter. Beautiful graphics that easily rival, if not beat, anything I've seen so far in Doom III, gallons of blood, and creepy little girls- yes, this game has it all. You can watch the 13 minute E3 presentation here:

Yes indeed, this game is one I shall be watching out for.

Yeah, It looks like an awesome game. But Probably won't run on this POS.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to Stalker more than Fear.

Yeah, I've been keeping an eye on this too.

It seems alot like this game is pretty fast-paced, following a formula of "enter room, have action-pack gunfight, proceed to next room, turn your pants brown, go to next room, have action-packed gunfight" etc etc. All at a pretty fast rate of switching between the two. I very much look foward to it.

Not really my style game. Tactical is, but the whole dark scarey thing never attracted me, like Resident Evil and Silent Hill. I thought those sucked. If the gameplay is good I might buy it. And if multiplayer is done well, I may give it a shot.

I think the game will end up like Far Cry. Far Cry is a terrible game with terrible multiplayer, but it is visually stunning. It's a good thing I got Far Cry for free with my CPU. I would have hated myself for buying that one.

          Uh

Far Cry was actually a really good game.

What, did you think Doom III sucked too?

          Kthx

I've played an beaten far cry, without cheating. The volcano is harder than hell. I never had a damn clue what was going on in far cry. Who is this guy helping me, why is he helping me, why does he care about this girl, why do i care about this girl, why are these guys trying to kill me, why, why, why?

I love objectives like find binoculars and visit the camp. Visit the camp sounds like fun right? No, people try to kill you actually. I brought a picnic basket and a blanket.

As for Doom 3. Meh, again, graphically amazing, but gameplay wise it was nothing of interest to me. Really what is so special about it. Yes I really like doing something, and then backtrack. And then do something else and then backtrack. No interactive environments. For christ's sake, glass doesn't even break. Not enough firefights for me, like the one's in Doom. Where there is 40 guys against you in a wide open court yard. The AI is subpar. It's basically me walking into a room, and then ducking out of the room dodging fireballs, peaking back in, unloading, and then repeat 4 or 5 times. The PDA thing is ridiculous, I didn't enjoy that.

As for Far Cry, yeah the plot is weak, but as the cinematic director of Bungie said:

Plot in a game is like plot in porn. You expect it to be there, but it really isn't important.
As for Doom, I'll concede that the PDA elements were sometimes annoying, but other than that, the game was genuinely fun. Groundbreaking? No. But it sure was scary as hell, and I can honestly say I felt more tension playing this game then when I was playing Silent Hill or Resident Evil. The AI doesn't need to be amazing, since you don't see the enemies for more than twelve seconds anyway. As long as they know how to take cover (which they do, very well) and shoot you, that's about all you'll notice with AI in a close range corridor blaster anyway. And while levels didn't leave you 'knee deep in the dead' like the original, I prefer this one's slow paced and tense atmosphere much more.

Oh, and did I mention that the graphics are really, really good?

Right, what I'm saying is that it isn't my style of game. To me there is nothing groundbreaking about it other than the graphics. At least in Doom3 you kinda know what's going on.
