Official Best Game Ever Thread

The last best game ever thread was retarded due to the fact that it was based off the author's opinions and only had Final Fantasy as choices and then "OTHER!". Stupid.

Edit: Read the poll title carefully. I didn't ask what your favorite game was. I asked which of the choices were the best. I want to see which of these choices is the best, not what your favorite games are. That's been covered in other threads.

dude wtf, halo is by far one of the BEST games ever. It brings together an awesome single player/coop campaign and an insane multiplayer that cannot be challenged by any of its kind. if you didn't want people voting for halo or FF then why did you include them? big deal it was from an offical poll.

Besides Starcraft and Zelda: a link to the past, are just as great, but they are great for their genre of game. maybe the poll would suck less if you only included games of the same type. how about less sucking next time, K thx.

And this poll sucks, frankly. Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Halo, and Super Smash Bros have no right to be on there, FFT is questionable as well. Plus, you have Starcraft, but you forgot Warcraft II. You also forgot the game that revolutionized FPS gaming, Half-Life. You forgot the still most widely played online shooter ever made, Counter-Strike. You forgot Diablo II, which not only invented the Hack 'n Slasher RPG, but is still unchallenged by any rival in the genre.

Honestly, guys. Don't slap the title "Best Game Ever" on a poll unless you know what you're doing.

I KNEW what I was doing when I took the finalists from a real poll and added them into this one due to the fact that THEY WERE FINALISTS. I'm sorry I can't make the poll 1000 pages long to include every single game in existance to see which one wins. Also sorry that Warcraft was apparantly crap due to the fact that it didn't even make it onto the official poll.

This was a perfectly legit poll with actual good games without my own opinion mixed in. What was wrong with that? I could only have 10 possible choices and so I chose the best 10 based off an official poll and Game of the Year contests. I even made the title of the poll "Which is the best game of the choices?" so you COULDN'T post that your game should be in the list and that my choices were crap.

Adumis: If I did that, I'd be another idiot poll maker basing the choices off of opinion and not fact. That'd make this thread worse than the other stupid one. The options would have disregarded any FF# game as a choice and only had Tactics or Tactics Advance (even though I hated both games). I would have included every Zelda game since they are masterpeices and seen which one would win. In fact, that doesn't sound like a bad idea. But wait, since nobody here has a real opinion of ANYTHING, Ocarina of Time would win since a) All the other ones are too old to win. Boo or b) Wind Waker is a kiddy game (note: It isn't. Actually play it instead of bashing it).

What would you have done differently, Anti? This is 0% based on opinion. It is thoroughly legitimate in every way. I could only have 10 choices and thus made it the best 10 of all time. I based my options off of winners of the official "Game of the year" award and those that made tremendous progress in the "Best. Game. Ever." spring contest on GameFAQS. Frankly, that's the only official poll for a best game of all time that I've ever seen! Where would you get your choices from?

Halo: Division 128, (1) Halo: Combat Evolved (#1 seed. Not to mention... http://www.gamespot.com/gamespot/fea...001/p6_04.html (By the way, I hate Halo. It goes to show that this is not an opinionated poll).)

SSBM: Division 128, (2) Super Smash Bros. Melee (#2 seed, and of course... http://www.gamespot.com/gamespot/fea...001/p6_01.html) Not only that, it WINS the 128 division and moves onto the final four.

Final Fantasy Tactics was ranked #6 in the 128 division. It lost to Final Fantasy X, but if this were to be official I couldn't keep both of them in the poll. Tactics was completely different from any FF# game so I kept that instead of having another FF# game in the mix. This was the most challenging decision when I was formulating this poll.

Starcraft: Division 128, (16) Starcraft. Beats Halo in round 1. Beats Kingdom Hearts in round 2. Beats even Wind Waker in round 3! But loses to Super Smash Bros. Melee in round 4.

Warcraft: Not in any division. Not in the contest! While I will admit that it was the finalist for PC's division in Gamespot's game of the year contest, it was the 11th option in my poll and couldn't be kept. All the other ones managed to be in the poll of 64 best games ever, so I had to keep those.

Half-Life: Division 128, (13) Half-Life. Lost in round 1 to Metroid Prime. Sure, I realize that this game is amazing, but it lost in round 1. It was option #12 when I was making this and I had to remove it. It did the worst of all the options. I wanted to keep it, I couldn't keep it.

CS: Not included in any division. Like Warcraft, I couldn't keep this game due to the fact that it wasn't in the contest. Sure, we all love to play it online and such, but based off the official poll, it's not even ranked.

Diablo II: Not included in any division. Same as above.

And just a comment on Starcraft: It is the Korean national sport, so it could be considered the best game ever.

I'm not sure what's wrong with Final Fantasy VII. I was playing it a long time ago, and it's still fun to play (on occasion).
