    Spider-man 2

I recently saw a propaganda show on MTV about this game which looked really good. Apparently the webslinging in this one is so realistic you can only do it if there's something around for your web to stick to. Also the game is more free-formed. You can websling all over New York, and you choose what missions to do and which ones to not do.

So basically, I'm making this post for a couple of reasons. Number one: I'd like to know if you've heard of it, and what your thoughts on it are. And Number two: If you all think it's worth spending all my money on rather than getting some DDR game (I've never even played DDR before, but I want to).

I also think it should be mentioned that I'm really fanatical of Spider-man.

    I heard one thing:

The PC Spiderman 2 game is crappy, while the Console SP2 is the real deal.

I wasn't even aware of a PC version. I suppose I should have specified, though. I'm talking about the PS2 version.

Any game based off a movie automatically sucks.

Game designers need to learn how to be original again.

From what I understand it's not based off of the movie any more than the fact that Doctor Octopus is the main villain. There's supposed to be many other bad guys too though. I'd imagine it'd play just like any of the other Spider-man games so far except that all the characters would look more like they do in the movies (i.e. the weird spider on Spidey's back in the movies).

                  It's essentially true.

I STUPIDLY bought the first one. That was the absolute worst mistake of my life. The plot sucked, the action sucked, and it was extremely unrealistic. It was really horrible.

Not only that but I beat it in less than a day. After that I left it to collect dust.

What is realistic in the world of Spider-man? the wallcrawling? the webslinging? how about the spider sense?

In other words, unrealism isn't going to detract from the quality of the game.

Well, I knew someone was going to say that...

Let's put it this way. They wanted to make a spider man. They did. It's a guy who can use webs and walk on walls and has extreme agility much like a real spider.

That doesn't enable the ability to use the sky as a grapple point. Don't even think of saying there's a plane there all the time. Which is why I was glad to read this:

Well there you go, the suckiness from the first has been reversed for the second. In other words, I see no reason why it shouldn't rule, and I am, therefore, going to blow all my money on it.

Hey, terminator 2 for the genesis was a damn good game, and it was based on the movie.

The thing i liked about the first Spiderman: The Movie game was that it didn't stray away from the essence of the older Spider-Man games (eg "Maximum Carnage" and "Separation Anxiety"), which were essentially beat-em-up arcade games. And they were fun at that. I was rather pleased with the move to the 3D environment, because they still kept it a beat-em-up game at heart.

Now, this sequel, I see as a "3D Spider Man V2.0," which is good because it means we get new baddies, new moves, bug fixes (web slinging on air), more fun.

The plot sucked, the action sucked, and it was extremely unrealistic.
The plot wasnt that bad, and it even took some good jabs at some humor. Example:

"Lady: Could you find my purse? It's on a rooftop.
                              Spider-Man: On a different rooftop?
                              Lady: Yes.
                              Spider-Man: Different than this one?
                              Lady: Yes.
Spider-Man: Are you taking some kind of tour of city rooftops or
                              something?
                              Lady: Yes!"

"Citizen below: Look mom, it's the Spider-Man!
                              Spider-Man: It's Spider-Man, there's no 'THE'!"

"Where does Shocker get all you guys? Is there a web site or something?"

"Hey, tell me you're gonna squash me like a bug. It always cracks me up
                              when you guys say that!"

                              Gotta love those one-liners.
