Long story short, I rented the game, and the only thing that can explain what I experienced is....

HOLY.
SHIT.


This game rocks so hard. I havent played a game this good in a very very long time. Hell, I usually don't like racing games. Last good one I played was Mario Kart: Double Dash, which can now go fuck itself. This game rocks so hard, I skipped having Pop-Tarts for breakfast to play it.

*ahem* And now, for an incredibly breif review.

Gameplay: It has a very arcade-ish feel to it, very "pick-up-and-play"-ish, but also incredibly in-depth. You often have to very carefully consider your balance between Acceleration and Max Speed, and there are plently of techniques to learn for mastering turns.
It is also worth noting that this game is very challenging. Takes lots of retries and practice, but rather than the game frustrating you after failing the tenth time, it gives you that "Just one for try, I was so close!" feeling that keeps you hooked on the game.
The AI is great. They aren't all out to get you, the don't suddenly catch up with you, they're just normal racers that really really really want First Place. They know how to not let you pass, they know how to ram you off course, but they're never ridiculously immortal.
Oh, and did I mention this game can get pretty damn fast? On the harder levels, there is no room for mess-ups ups or you'll fly right off-course (I'm looking at you, Lightning - Half Pipe).
And before I forget, Multiplayer is a blast too.

Graphics: Best ever. Better than Metriod Prime, each track and vehicle is highly detailed with extreme amounts of kickass-atry. Best. Ever.

Sound: Holy shit. This game has the best soundtrack you will ever encounter. An incredible blend of Electronic and Guitaristics and other stuff. My case and point: The Theme of the Casino Palace track.

It may be the best Racing game on the GCN to date. I've rented it, and I must say, "OMFG ROCK ON."

There is even an adventure story. Where there is a story line and everything, which at points its hard, and you couldnt believe you got rocking game. Even though at times its hard, you'll love the hardness, trust me.

I love the game. I've beaten every cup on every difficulty with almost every charicter, unlocked all but 3 cars I think, and have beaten every course on atleast hard in story mode. The game is beyond awesome =p.

:O I wanna unlock Rainbox Phoenix so bad, but I know Master difficulty would be, like, impossible for me. How does the Rainbow Phoenix handle?

Just the track layouts are enough to make you gawk a the supreme ownage this game has to offer.

I still haven't beaten it completely. I just unlocked the Diamond Cup and have yet to play it. I'm sure I will be owned on even Standard difficulty.

I hate Lightning - Half-Pipe. I was so close to getting 1st (overall) on Standard, but I made 13th place on that stage, no thanks to trying to stay on course.

But on the other hand, I love my customized Rapid Unicorn. Wouldn't trade it for the world (unless the world included Rainbow Phoenix).

Omega, when I was doing all the cups on standard, that cup was always the worst to try to do simply because of Lightning. What ended up happening was that I got 4th - 6th place on every race in the cup and won due to the fact that enemy ranks fluctuate so much. Cheap way to get first but I really don't care.

But Lightning - Half-Pipe can go die. What's the meaning of that massively sharp S-bend near the end? Ugh.

I'm not looking forward to beating Diamond on Standard.

Rainbow Phoenix is my favorite car by far =p. Great turning, doesn't skid and has high speed. Not the best speed but it'll do.


And you just need a car with good steering for half pipe, I never die on it anymore with Phoenix.


And if you think standard is hard... (I actually though expert was harder then master, maybe I'm just crazy. Oh, and the AX cup is really easy.)

and i dont know wtf half of that post meant, so perhaps you should spend time explaining it to those of us who are unfarmilliar with what it means, seeing is that is what your main priority is. if you think that means im interested then your sorely mistaken for someone else. I couldnt care less about a game like this. If it came out of the gamecube it can only be so good.

Lightning - Half-Pipe is a level. There is a storm ongoing while you play (hence: Lightning) and the track is a half-pipe (hence: half-pipe). It makes it very easy to fall off.

The customized Rapid Unicorn is the name of a car you can custom build.

I thnk my fav' custom vehicles name is like silver snake v2 or some thing. It's got the silver sword body, heat snake cockpit, and V2 engine. It's got no steering but it's a damn good drag racer.Paint it all candy apple red and it looks like a hot-rod on steroids. My only complaint is that some cars are pointless to have (Great Star- damn that thing is shitty). The FMVs u get after beating Master class with a normal vehicle are great fun though.

The best part in the whole game though is the holy spider body- if u are great at keeping stable, u can take turns at incredible speeds without losing control. i have a replay of me at aeropolis with a holy-spider vehile with the triple z engine, i took the hairpin at well over 1800 and i accelerrated through the turn.

This game is god.
