    sega saturn Problem (Sort of)

I have a sega saturn I bought several years ago. Up until a few months ago it was running well. One day I found some games were no longer being read by the system and others were. I also found that tilting the system makes the other games work for the most part. I was wonder if anyone knew why the system needs to be tilted? I personally think it has to do with disk reader lens missing the outer edge of the disk verifying the fact the game is a saturn game. Sadly this doesn't explain why some games are read without the tilt.

Just to confirm on the games in question, are they spinning up?
Is it reading them as anything? I had an issue where mine registered games as audio cd's which ended up being due to region locked games (curse you second hand retailers!)

Your lens might just be dirty, try giving it a clean if you haven't already. Q-tip and isopropyl alcohol are the recommended method.
There's a few youtube vids on Saturn problems if you feel like trying your luck there. There is also a great forum you can check out at forums.sega.com

Spinning up? not sure exactly what that means. I have tried cleaning the lens before and it did nothing. The games themselves are NTSC and are played on an NTSC sega saturn system. As for what the disk is read as. Oddly enough in the menu it is said to be a game disk.

I think he means if the disk starts spinning and doesn't read, or does it not even start spinning.

Yeah are they actually spinning inside or just kinda sitting there doing nothing.

It does spin. Some of my games work just fine while others require the system to be tilted to be read.
