Shit story with shit villains.
Boring gym setup.
Bland Elite Four and the worst offender, fucking Wallace.
Shitty map. No zone really stood out to me & way too many water zones.
God I hated this gen, the only one I actually felt like I wasted my time playing after I finished.
Good thing gen 4 did so much to restore my faith in Pokemon because Ruby/Sapphire almost killed it.
They have a lot of turd to polish if this remake is going to even be worth buying out of curiosity, much less actually make it enjoyable.
holy FUCK someone agrees with me hahah
now I've said it before, it's still a great game. but compared to the other ones, it doesn't live up.
I grew up during the massive hysteric hype of pokemon in the late 90s. When 2nd gen came out, shit was outta control. the map was huge, tons of shit to do, 16 mother fucking badges (yet to see this happen again), a massive amount of nostalgia going through kanto and what I consider to be the best last boss in gaming history, the battle with red.
3rd gen came out and completely disappointed me. did not live up to 2nd gen's monster gameplay. everything felt bland and was stale gameplay coated with trumpets
I had fire red, i was kind of bored, i don't even remember what the differences were besides everything looking more like the modern pokemon games of that time. I heard that heart gold/soul silver were amazing remakes but i never tried them x.x maybe i'll get one of those and play it before these remakes come out lol.
Of the 100+ reblogs I made about ORAS last night, this was probably my favorite. xD
He made a really good point about the cities, though. Hoenn has the most creative cities in the series by far. (imo)

FireRed/LeafGreen had Ruby and Sapphire's graphics, new side locations, and RSE Pokemon available post-game. They weren't that different, though.
I kinda want a 6th gen Pokemon Yellow (or failing that Red/Green again) because the Kanto pokemon that you can't get easily in Gen4/5/6 have to be imported from Gen3, which involves a 24hr waiting period to cart only 6 pokemon at a time. It's a pain in the ass. I'm glad they fixed that problem when carting over from gens 4 to 5. Good thing the problem is mostly eliminated at this point, especially with Hoenn.
gen 3 was better than either gens 4 (until hgss if you count that) or 5
i'm not buying this until it's confirmed not easy as fuck like x/y
RSE were the hardest games all-around, all they need to do is "fix" the Exp. Share and not hand out overpowered Megas before the halfway point (fucking blaziken, man).
Or at least make a damn challenge mode like BW2.
I'm with hi19 and kommi on this in that I think Gen 3 was also the weakest generation but my issue stems from one other thing:
The lack of in-game time.
Generation 2 had that AWESOME feature where it could follow real time and go into night or day because of it. Gen 3 ditched that completely and I thought that's what really made Gen 2 stand apart (aside from the 16 gyms). While that feature was again brought back, that really crushed Gen 3 for me and is the reason I consider it the worst of the 6 generations.
That said, I might pick it up because a good chuck of the Pokémon I need for my X/Y Dex are Hoenn legends. Unless my girlfriend gets it, in which case, I'll ask her for them.

in all honesty I don't think Mega Evolutions will be available. I just don't see it happening. I get the feeling it's a story gimmick that they should want to preserve. But that's just me speculating. I really don't want Megas in the RSE remake though DDDD:

I'm not really a fan of Megas in general, but they had a huge emphasis in X&Y (at least somewhat, game freak sure liked to advertise them), so I can't see why they'd drop them.
I think it would be interesting if certain NPC's had Megas (Steven with Mega Metagross, anyone?), but you can't get a mega stone until post-game.
(Having played every gen game except Fire Red, Pearl, B1, BW2)
Game code for Mega Lati@s already exists. Mega Latias is pretty much inferior to Soul Dew Latias. Mega Latios becomes an awkward mixed attacker, and sort of is a waste of the mega slot.
I do foresee Mega Metagross, perhaps Mega Altaria and Mega Flygon. At least using Gen 4 phys/special mechanics is definitely an improvement, as expected.
Secret bases are of course nice, if they do something like they did with Gen 5's Entralink (I actually used that stuff with my bro) even better, to a point.
Having a competitive difficulty would be great too.
