projectiles are an essential part of the gameplay, it has risk and reward attached to it, it's not some blatantly easy autowin button haaha
Uh durrrr. Compare the essentials of sf4 to sf3 and that's what I am saying. You'd never see a true third strike player spamming projectiles because it can easily be dealt with via parrying and closing the distance. The fact that it is so essential in 4 is what deters me from it completely. Plus third strike is just an overall technical better game period.
option selects and in-depth knowledge of so many things such as frames & invincibility frames on different moves make ae pretty damn interesting (and hard to become good at)
marvel is fun too because it's hype (as long as it's not the same teams again & again like mvc2)
Haha honestly, I don't want to start up such a potentially heated debate. I don't like the simplicity of input that can suddenly create so much chaos. To me it's ridiculous, and I feel the appeal for a majority is mostly aesthetic. I feel no satisfaction whooping someone's ass in that game. It lacks the raw technicality that melee, kof, sf has. But, it is a different game and is unfair to an extent to hold it to those games standards. It's kinda like a brawl version of sf I guess? It doesn't mean skill isn't required to be at a certain level, I just prefer 1 on 1 who's got more skill between our selected fighters fighting, not who can create the most solid team against the numerous combinations. While this stance is preferential to an extent, I feel like games like mvc overshadow the more serious and involved games out there. Popularity for this game has made it way over hyped IMO. The source of such popularity could be argued that is indeed a badass fighting game because hell, even Justin Wong plays it, but maybe Justin Wong is playing it because he has the skill to be good at any fighting game, so why not choose the most popular even if it is in a way(to me at least) lame. It's just a fad to me that I hope dies out soon lol.

Well of course, such is the nature of almost every street fighter. Third strike just so happens to be a million times faster and technical and IMO that much more difficult to be world class at. Also it's incredibly entertaining to watch two third strike players as opposed to spammed hadoukens. Take evo moment 37 for example and that's just one of many badass moments in sf3. Sf4 is a great game in its own regard, but third strike is just way more pro.
