    Favorite Game Features

What are your favorite features in a game? Do you like having a password system for infinite lives or ammo etc.? The graphics? It can be anything basically... even something simple like in the options menu.

One feature I really like is sidequests. I LOVE me a good, long, tedious, rewarding sidequest! Especially if it has a really good and helpful reward in the end. But I don't like when after you do a sidequest, as great as the reward is, you won't really need it anymore. Still, it makes the game seem longer and it's nice for people like me who want to get the full experience out of the game.

Another feature I like, is when a game has Dolby Pro Logic II Surround Sound. Especially if it has deep bass. Like in The Legend of Zelda: The WInd Waker for example, when you're in Dragon Roost Island when the volcano erupts, the ground literally shakes. It was so awesome the first time I tried it on my surround sound system I have now. So I like Earth shaking bass and nice environment sounds in a game too, like waterfalls and stuff.

Changing difficulties is another one that's good to me. Then it wouldn't be the same as each time you play the game, it will be more difficult the next time. Like in the Resident Evil series when the harder difficulties have less ammo, health, can't take as much damage etc. Then you have to use ammo more wisely and just makes it more suspenseful.

    What are your favorite features?

I'm not saying that a game needs all these, but I love games with great storylines, high replayability, fun multiplayer, great soundtrack, and tight controls.

You know I feel like with all of these DragonIIDX threads, I bet you anything he has like files of our personalities in his basement or something. Either that or we are all part of a secret documentary we dont know about, and this is how he interviews us.

(Oh, and favorite feature is the amount of freedom in a game. Like, I hate 1 path games. The more choices to reach the end (or multiple ends) the better.)

Haha, I know I've been making a lot of threads lately, but I like this section. Also added that thought to your file!

Bolded parts are for me pretty what all you can ask for any video game ever made.

Favorite featues though, hmm... Don't know.

Multiplayer compatibility. This can make a horrible game actually fun in the right setting.

Multiplayer is always fun. I like co-op and versus over alternating. I think it's more fun when people are playing at the same time, rather than switching every other level.

for single player games i really like having lots of bosses, side bosses, and enemies that can keep getting stronger if your own characters are able to level up endlessly. additionally it's nice to be able to make enemies stronger at any point in the game, as long as they give more experience for being tougher to kill. i also like it when you can increase the strength of your characters/weapons/skills by just fighting more. and then if there's ever a cap to how strong enemies get, i like to try and 1 shot the strongest boss. after i do that there's nothing left to do in the game for me, and only then do i feel i've beaten a game xD
(that is unless i can max stats o: )

Upgrade System. It turns a boring game without direction into an addicting one really quickly if done right.

                      Re: Favorite Game Features

Lots and lots of collectables, especially if they help move the game along (Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, etc.).

Story mode with many playable characters (some unlockable), each with their own unique attacks and abilities (Marvel Ultimate Alliance, some fighting games).

I've always liked the achievement/unlock system used in Kirby's Air Ride and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. There's just something awesome about a grid that unlocks panels, and then gives you hints about how to unlock adjacent panels.

Custom levels that you can share/play online (Little Big Planet)

                      Beautiful environments (Final Fantasy X)

New Game Plus. It's always fun to play an RPG over again at your strongest level, to see that you've become so strong that you can one-shot pretty much all of the game's early bosses and enemies. Also allows you to truly make use of that Infinity Plus One sword that you found in the final dungeon.

I also enjoy racing games with a variety of creative tracks, such as Mario Kart and Sonic All-Stars Racing.

Level-up/Upgrade system. If at first you don't succeed, grind and try again! It can sometimes take the challenge out of a game, though.

Games that are different every time you play them. Rearranging the structure of the dungeon, monsters, types of monster, items/treasures, etc. each time you play. Minecraft takes this to the extreme.

Character customization. Phantasy Star Online 2 is probably the best I've seen.

I never played this, but I remember seeing Aion with some decent customization.

                          Re: Favorite Game Features

I don't get to enjoy too many different types of games because I have a rather nasty case of gamer rage.

Still, here's my take on things that make a game worth trying:

If the game's difficulty descriptors are actually accurate. If I start up a file of Halo 4 on the lowest difficulty setting, I expect to do as the mode says--effortlessly mow down hordes of fleeing enemies. Not have to die 4 times to the same goddamn grunt in a ghost. Hell, managing only 3 deaths on the first level was a nerve-wracking experience.

If the primary competition is against oneself. It's why I'm still here after all these years. XD

Collectibles can be hit or miss. If you have to find them to advance, they suck. If they're out of the way and unlock bonus stuff, they're good, and really make you stretch your mind to figure out where you haven't looked. If you know where they are, but getting to it is the hard part, then FUCK YOU.
