    Defiance

This is a video game / tv show relationship thing. Events in the game effect the TV show, and vice versa. The game is produced by Trion (The Rift guys).

I think the game looks pretty cool, I don't give a shit about the tv show though.
SiFi shows never really appeal to me.

Its a one time purchase game, no subscription fee.

Anyone going to be playing this? I'll be buying it on Friday and trying it out.

    Re: Defiance

I'm a really big fan of Trion Worlds, I've been playing Rift since it came out and they have been nothing but helpful and amazing.

I'm really excited to see how the TV series will influence the game and vice versa; if I were you, I'd watch the series as well. Apparently there might be arkcodes within the show, which you can use to gain fluff items, such as titles, aesthetic gear, etc.

As for the game itself, I'm not a big fan of the shooter genre as a whole, but I've been hearing a lot of good things about Defiance. Let me know how it is!

      Re: Defiance

Rift was my favorite MMO until I stopped having enough time to sink into MMO's.

If that's the case, maybe I'll give the show a shot.

I mean, the first episode(s) is/are out right? I thought they started when the game was released.

Before Mass Effect 3 I never gave 3rd person shooters a chance because I always preferred first person games, but after playing ME3 on the PC I fell in love with the mechanics, which are apparently similar. Should be good.

If there are people on here who are going to play it on the PS3 I may be swayed to buy it on the console instead.

Game looks pretty fun, but I'm not forking out €50 for something like this, especially when they're probably gonna end up having it subscription-based anyway. MMO's are too damn expensive, despite generally being lower quality than other games with the same price tag.

On a side not, when the hell did "Sci-Fi" become "SiFi"? I'm seeing the "new" term used all over the place, like it's standard now. Why? It makes absolutely no sense and sounds dumb as hell.

It's what the network is called... Pick your battles, man.

Syfy (formerly Sci-Fi Channel) is an American cable television channel, featuring science fiction, drama, supernatural, fantasy, reality, paranormal, wrestling, and horror programming. Launched on September 24, 1992, it is part of the entertainment conglomerate NBCUniversal, a subsidiary of Comcast.[1] The name Syfy was officially adopted on July 7, 2009.

Okay, so I see what's going on now. That's still an absolutely retarded name so not really an excuse, but at least it's not some widespread retardation like I originally thought.

So my first impression of the game is that it's mechanics are very similar to Mass Effect 3. The item system works very similar to the way Borderlands does, and its got a Fallout-y feel for everything else.
