So the object is of course defeat all those little things on the map while increasing your abilities and completing quests.
Essentially there's three kinds of energy (arbitrarily named stupid, ooze, and ugly) you must remove from each enemy in order to defeat them. Additionally you have special abilities in those three as well, but to charge them up you need to remove the corresponding energy from the enemy.
I recommend not wasting one-use items because you'll find you really need them, although selling inferior or duplicate equipment is fine.
Defeat all enemies in an area and a "Reset" button becomes available -- this lets you re-fight everyone in the area if you prefer playing the game more powered-up via grind. If you prefer more of a challenge, don't use these.
