    Dungeon Crawlers

Anyone into these? I find they have an awesome old-school feel to them. My favorites are Phantasy Star 1 and some of the Madou Monogatari series. They tend to be a little difficult because of the navigation through mazes. The battle systems are generally quite simple though.

This is one I'm playing every so often right now:

This one is Compile trolling the **** out of you when you choose the "?" option

start a lot of them. usually give up due to difficulty/lack of management or grinding. or just total bs with monsters. they're fun but haven't found that perfect one that I'd play over again for fun.

    lol compile

like dungeon crawlers but hate grinding?

        try Brogue https://sites.google.com/site/broguegame/

        and Sil http://www.amirrorclear.net/flowers/game/sil/index.html

        My two favourite roguelikes :3

they both have anti-grinding mechanics and brisk gameplay (in brogue only so much food is generated and in sil you're forced to deeper depths based on turns elapsed, so both games must eventually end = there's no 'grind forever' optimal but boring strategy) and interesting but easy to pick up mechanics

Actually thought Digimon World 2 was a great game.
Might not be the kind of thing you were referring to but it seemed like a dungeon crawler to me.

I'd consider games like .hack sort of dungeon crawlers since most of the game revolves around dungeons and utilizing the maps

I liked Gauntlet Dark Legacy and the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games. PSO kinda got grating after a while though.

I played a bunch of them back in the day, but it seems that as I've gotten older (and more spoiled with games ease) it's gotten a lot harder.

Etrian Odyssey (on the DS) was pretty good though, I enjoyed that series.

Try the Legend of Grimrock out. It's a re-imagining of the old school crawlers, and is actually a really good game.

dot hack series is so boss. I own all 4 of the initial series but I haven't played past the 2nd one, lol.

I would also strongly recommend Dark Cloud 1 & 2 (both on PS2) to any dungeon crawler fan, those games are magnificent.

I don't know if the game Magna Carta: Tears of Blood (also on PS2) qualifies as a DC, but it's also really fun and has lots of tits, so I recommend it as well.

Oh, one other good one is Ragnarok DS. The storyline is really bland but it's pretty fun.

How did you get through the awful play style for Magna Carta? beautiful game, terrible way to play...

buddy of mine was a huge fan of the dark cloud series, I really gotta look into those.

.hack series I didn't really pay attention to anything past the first 4 (I only had 1 and 3 though haha) but those were really addicting.
