Tera (The Game)

Just came out, i played in the beta and loved it. IMO it's better than WOW and TOR and others in the realm of Pay-to-play mmorpg's.

So far I'm the only one that plays it that i know of, so if anyone else plays it, hit me up. I play a female Castanic Warrior on the Freeholds server.

The game is beautiful and the game play is way more interactive than other mmorpgs (no point and click/mashing skills)

I don't really wanna spend that much time trying to explain the game since not many people will actually get this far into this post.

Hey I've got a great idea!

Let's pay $50 for a game that barely competes with many F2P games on the market, then subsequently pay a $15 monthly fee!! Only $230 for your first year. nbd. :l

I'm not wrong. It is $50 for a digital download and it advertises for an additional $14.99 for a month. Whether that's still worth it for you is your choice.

I mean ever PSU remained $10 a month on top of XBL charges and that game wasn't all THAT great (well, what I mean is I got into it when the servers were pretty much empty, games as such are much more fun when they're at their prime obviously and have tons of players around the same levels), however I still really had fun playing it with a few friends from town very much so, so I most certainly wouldn't mind paying a similar price for a new game which sounds to be similar in some sense when it's at it's prime. and you can find out if you even like it before having to pay for it, I mean at least play on the beta server or something before paying for the actual game itself just to see if you even like the game at all, so yea like Hurley and Prawn said.

I mean yeah, I'm not really a fan of paying monthly for a game either, but if it's worth it, for a little while at least, why not. I've seen people spend hundreds on flash games (not talking about ffr but even still, who hasn't at least looked for a better keyboard or something over the years), and I'd much rather spend money to support the creators of a MMO like this one rather than a silly flash game like Call of Gods.. (yo I'm down to pay to support FFR/SMO.eu should I have the option, it blows to see something you enjoy greatly go offline because they can't afford to run the servers anymore [HALO ****ING 2/FFR in 2010/old SMO server/SMO.eu T_______T]).

e: Wait is the beta even out anymore lol I didn't even check yet probs not I would imagine if the actual game is out, so replace my example of the beta with a private server xd

Anyways yea, as I said before, at gonna at least try this out before judging it.

You get a discount if you pay for your whole year at once, so your math is off slightly.

This game's marketing is a farce.

I was really excited about this back when it was announced, what with all the "true action" they promised. I expected sort of a blend between Vindictus and World of Warcraft, with the responsive, hyper-active gameplay from Vinnie combined with the strategy and teamwork present in World of Warcraft.

The first gameplay trailer released left me positively skeptical. The gameplay is slow as hell, and it seemed like most people were just running around instead of doing twitch dodging and whatnot. But okay, when I thought about it, hyper responsive ADHD-laden twitch gaming and intricate teamwork and strategy don't really mix well, so I figured they'd dumbed the combat down a bit to allow for more interesting boss fights.

I played the beta until level 35 or something. It really is like a blend between World of Warcraft and Vindictus, but for all the wrong reasons; The combat has been dumbed down to the point where it really isn't all that different from WoW's slow, boring tank and spank fights, whereas the boss fights have the same level of intricate strategy and teamplay as Vindictus' "omg the boss is attacking u beter dodge".

The one thing TERA has to brag about is its elite monsters (okay, and perhaps the graphics), but you're bound to grow tired fighting them eventually as they each take like 15 minutes to kill and if you lose concentration due to boredom and subsequently screw up you're completely screwed.

TL;DR: The game sucks. I'd wait for Guild Wars 2.
