Simfile Mods?

This may sound incredibly noobish, but I have never played Stepmania and I want to know how on earth you can change the mods in simfiles!
I can't do anything unless the speed is x2, the buttons are spread and the arrows go down, how do you change this?

x2 in FFR is actually about c600 in Stepmania, so what you need to do is get that in the game. Follow the instructions here

Once you have added it, start the game, and when you select a song, hit enter twice and a menu screen will come up. The first option is speed, so change that to c600 and you are good to go.


To Change the arrow key setup on the main menu go to options and there should be an option called key settings or something like that. Select that option and change the input

I don't know how to make the arrows go down because I don't have Stepmania at work :P but I assume it should be in the same menu as where you change the speed

Assuming you're using the default Stepmania theme, there should be a line labeled "Scroll" in the options menu when selecting a song (Double tap or hold Start when selecting a song to play, as previously mentioned). Change it to "Reverse" and the arrows will scroll down as opposed to up. The downside to this is that if you use a colored noteskin to determine step timing, freeze arrows will be a bit harder for you since the coloration will show up at the tail of the freeze.

To change your controls for arrow inputs, you need to go to the Options menu from the game's Main Menu, and change the Config Key/Joy Mappings settings from in there. You can set up to three different keys or controller keys to function as each in-game button by hitting Enter on a selection in the same row as the command listed, then pressing the key you want to assign to that input slot. Command slots on the left side column are for 1P, and the right side is for 2P. This'll let you set the keys to however you like them for your spread play.
