I stepped crowdpleaser for a while

but I couldn't think of how to do it once the synth came in over the drums I so expertly layered

it looked dumb

I see the trick you're trying to pull off in the beginning. To do that, you have to double the bpm and then figure out the value of each stop. For a simple 16th stream, it'll be simple as you only have to find the stop length once and use it over and over again. (I hope you were trying for the stutter effect...)

Also random stops = no
