18th of December

This is my first ever simfile. I have no prior stepping experience. I'd like to have some experienced step artists critique this file for me. I hope to make more soon, and I know your advice will help.

...before anyone asks: Yes, I payed attention to pitch-relevancy.

EDIT: Don't play it in Resonance. It seems a little off-sync there.

DOUBLE-EDIT: I took your suggestions and I completely re-did the file from scratch. I'd appreciate it if you would download it again and tell me what you think once more. The banner links to the new version.

It was a good first attempt, the steps though seemed to be unbalanced, where it's nice and slow for the majority but then at one random part it has hands and jacks for about 20 seconds or so.

I also felt that you didn't quite layer it enough, meaning you really didn't use those additional steps you could've used in the song leading up to that jack and hands part.

The graphics though are lovely ^_^

EDIT: Arreku, next time you upload a sim, don't forget TO TAKE OFF THE PHOTOSHOP IMAGE. 2/3 of the file size was in that -- WTF.

Yeah, the graphics are amazing, I'll download this right now.

Edit: K played it, the PR is fine, needs more layering though, various part of the songs could and probably should have much more steps, keep the heavy and add a challenge/oni that has some layering to more/all of the songs beats.

Pretty much, understepped a lot.

played it. the song is awesome. sounds like something macgravel would step for xmod. yours chart is EXTREMELY understepped. you followed the melody mostly, and the file itself has many inconsistencies. for a first file, it's pretty good considering you're actually following the music and it's on-sync.

I agree--for your first chart, this is really good. Understepped, and switches off from melody to drums abruptly in some areas, but the pitch-relevancy and layering is nice.

Oh wow... I didn't realize I stuck the .PSD in there. >_<

Thanks for the reviews so far. I'm going through it again and considering taking Tera's advice and making a challenge version.

Not just that it was understepped is the problem, its also the fact that you would change from drums to melody very abruptly. Near the end when you had those jacks and such, I thought it was good until you randomly went back into the freezes when there were still intense drumming going on. I didn't quite get the 12ths in the beginning, but I had the sound low so I may not have heard the sound with which you put that step. You also switched from long freezes to jumps in the middle a bit, which is inconsistent.

IMO pretty good first file. My first file was random stream patterns at 142 BPM. Good job.

Nice file, the second one was better. Wasn't bad for a first though. My first was a bomb, lol. You ought to start stepping my songs. lol.
