    Making a Gap

    I dunno if people will hate me for this or something but maybe a little tut for those who really dont understand and are accidentaly making bad stepfiles.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Gap is when the arrows are starting so its important. With a bad gap you'll get yellow or orange arrow syndrome, which means you have a problem.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Step 1.

    Finding your gap.

    If you dont have it already, download audacity or you'll have a problem (Proggie that I use to find gaps). Link:http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

    Now that you (hopefully) have audacity, here is a picture discribing what to do.

    Now that you have your gap, its time to open up notepad or XStep.

    Since I dont usually use notepad, I decided to pick it first

    Okay open up your .dwi (you should know how to create from Synthlight or arch0wls tutorials)

    Here is an example (Max 300)

    #TITLE:Max 300;
    #ARTIST: Omega here;
    #BPM:300;
    #GAP:0.869464;

    Im not really used to making stepfiles with notepad, so hopefully this is how it would start.

    Okay if your like me and make the .dwi file with xstep, this part should seem pretty simple.

    Just take a look at the img and it will make sense (Same song example as in the text one.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Okay good job. Hopefully this is the correct way to make gaps as this is how I make them

              GAP = the time from 0.000 (the start of the mp3) to when the first beat occurs. Sometimes your GAP is not the first "noise" on the stepfile.

              So if you had a song that had a GAP of 4550, Stepmania will wait 4.550 seconds before it begins the first beat.

                I know, but usually in most of my songs it starts on first note.

                  why does every1 make such a to-do about the gap? just get it at least close to accurate, make the steps, then spend 5 minutes playin with it afterwards.
