    sm file won't save

    i've been working on a ton of files, but none of the .sm files ever change. i edited them in sm, and then i saved and reloaded, but it just shows what i had before i edited it. it never saves.

    i'm on a windows vista laptop, very good condition. i don't know what to do.

      Has this happened just recently, or ever since you got this new laptop? What version of SM are you using? Etc. more info if you think it'll help I can't think at the moment.

      Also, you shouldn't have to reload the song after making changes in the editor and saving it. If you made changes OUTSIDE the editor, you would have to reload if you have the Fast Load option on (since your laptop is new, you should probably turn this off anyways, it's somewhere in the game options menu).

          1. it started right from the beginning.

          also, the stepchart works in sm, just that if you look at it in notepad, nothing's changed at all. i'll try turning fast load off.
